Job Description

Benefits Manager Geiger Ready-Mix is a 5th generation, family-owned and operated company with over 70 years of ready-mix experience. We are dedicated to providing exceptional and innovative customer service and are the leading ready-mix supplier in our region. As we continue to grow and evolve, we are seeking a talented individual to join our HR team as a Benefits Manager . The Benefits Manager is responsible for administering Geiger's employee benefit and leave programs, working to meet employee needs while also managing costs. This position resolves benefit-related problems and ensures effective use of plans and positive employee relations. This role ensures that plans are competitive, compliant, and aligned with our organizational goals. This position also provides administrative support to the human resource function as needed.
In this role you will:
  • Administers health and welfare plans (including HSA plans), Ancillary benefits (Life, AD&D, etc.) Employee Assistance Program, Wellness initiatives and 401K plan.
  • Processes and maintains required documents from insurance providers and vendors to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions sent to Payroll.
  • Ensures that all 401(k) enrollments, contributions, hardships and transactions are completed in a timely and accurate manner. Interface with vendors to ensure the efficiency of administration of our benefits and 401k plans including enrollments, qualifying life events, terminations and claims issues.
  • Conducts new hire benefits orientations and ensure all eligible members are enrolled in benefits within 30 days of qualifying event. Monitors all benefit inquiries and serve as the tier one response line to all employee benefits questions. Reviews and validate monthly benefits invoices. Works with employees, vendors and Accounting to reconcile discrepancies monthly.
  • Conducts audits of benefits (including employees and dependents) to ensure accuracy of enrollments and billing; recommends corrective action.
  • Develops resources and educates employees regarding benefits options throughout the lifecycle (new hire, life events, terminations). Monitors all benefit inquiries and serve as the tier one response line to all employee benefits questions. Coordinates communication ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and other date privacy regulations.
  • Works closely with the HR Director and 3rd party partners to understand market trends and monitor benefit costs utilization and employee satisfaction.
  • Assists with coordination and execution of annual plan renewals and enrollments, including the modification of benefit materials, scheduling and leading of annual benefit enrollment meetings, the transmission of enrollment data to vendors, and resolution of post-enrollment issues.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes potential solutions recommendations.
  • Manages and tracks all Leave of Absence programs for FMLA, STD, and LTD. Reviews and updates employee statuses weekly.
  • Sends necessary paperwork to employees, processes claim for approval/denial where applicable, and tracks time off. o Analyzes claims to determine eligibility and certification. o Coordinates claims with third-party administrators as needed. o Collects benefit payments as applicable.
  • Acts as point person for employees with inquiries about LOAs. Reviews practices and procedures for legal and reporting compliance including ERISA Plan documents (SPDs, 5500s), ACA, etc.
  • Maintains awareness of federal, state and local benefit laws and regulations to ensure compliance, including but not limited to, HIPAA, COBRA, ADA, FMLA,ERISA and Section 125 provisions.
  • Proactively manages HR systems in order to ensure data integrity.
  • Manages the Wellness Program and partners with Navigate Wellbeing Solutions.
  • Leads and plans wellness initiatives including biometric, flu shots and other activities.
  • Ensures engagement in wellness activities.
  • Plans communication and education.
  • Supports a variety of recurring and seasonal HR activities.
  • Coordination and execution of monthly HR Days at the plants.
  • Drive community engagement efforts identifying and promoting benefit-related partnerships, volunteer opportunities, and wellness programs that connect employees with local community.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
We are looking for:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience with HRIS systems specifically UKG.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Advanced Excel skill level. Project management, effective multi-tasking, and excellent organization and record-keeping skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Willingness to provide support to other team members as needed. Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration and a minimum of 4 years of experience in benefits administration or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP and CEBS or professional designations preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws, multi-state expertise a plus.
  • Experience managing relationships with insurance brokers and third-party administrators and running annual open enrollment.
  • Deep knowledge of federal regulations such as ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA and the ACA is required. As a team member at Geiger Ready-Mix you will enjoy:

Pay:
$75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
