Full Time Position Overview As an Assistant HR Business Partner, you will play a critical role in executing core HR processes and delivering consistent, high-quality HR support across the Power business. This role is designed as an execution-focused extension of the HR Business Partner, enabling scalable support for a growing workforce while maintaining strong employee experience and operational discipline. You will partner closely with HR Business Partners, Centers of Excellence, and business leaders to support employee relations, data-driven decision making, and the successful delivery of annual HR processes. While primarily aligned to staff and corporate populations, this role will also support craft-related employee relations matters and coordinate with Labor Relations as needed, providing broader exposure across the workforce. This is a high-visibility opportunity for someone looking to grow into a full HRBP role by building deep capability in HR execution, analytics, and leader support.

Location This position is located in Lenexa, KS and requires full time in-office attendance. Some travel may be required. Responsibilities HR Partnership & Day-to-Day Support Serve as a primary HR contact for assigned business groups, providing guidance on policies, processes, and employee inquiries
Support managers with routine performance management, attendance, and conduct conversations
Maintain a regular pulse on employee engagement, trends, and emerging risks Employee Relations & Risk Management Manage intake and documentation for employee relations matters across both staff and craft populations, with an emphasis on consistency and compliance
Conduct preliminary reviews and partner with HRBPs on more complex or sensitive issues
Coordinate with Labor Relations on union-related concerns, contract interpretation, and escalations as appropriate
Support investigations, corrective actions, and follow-through to resolution
Ensure high-quality documentation aligned with company standards and legal requirements HR Process Execution (Core Focus Area) Lead coordination and execution of annual HR cycles, including:
Performance management
Compensation and merit planning
Talent and succession processes
Ensure data accuracy, system updates, and timely completion of deliverables
Partner with HRBPs to prepare materials, reporting, and leader inputs People Data, Reporting & Insights Analyze HR data (turnover, performance, engagement, workforce trends)
Prepare dashboards, summaries, and insights to support business decisions
Identify trends and recommend actions to improve employee experience and retention Onboarding & Employee Experience Support onboarding and integration of new hires to ensure a strong employee experience
Partner with recruiting and leaders to support staffing transitions and internal movement
Help drive consistency in employee experience across the district, including coordination with project-based teams when needed HR Operations & Process Improvement Partner with HR Shared Services to ensure timely and accurate HR transactions
Maintain documentation, audit readiness, and compliance standards
Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and scalability
Support HR projects and cross-functional initiatives Role Scope & Exposure Primarily office-based, supporting staff and district-level HR needs
Provides supplemental support on craft employee relations matters, without direct ownership of field HR operations
Partners with Labor Relations and HRBPs to ensure consistent handling of union and policy-related issues
Limited travel as needed for business support
Qualifications 3+ years of progressive HR experience (generalist, employee relations, or HR operations)
Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Strong judgment and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail
Analytical mindset with experience using HR data to drive insights
Strong communication skills and ability to partner with leaders at multiple levels Preferred Experience in engineering, construction, or project-based organizations
Exposure to employee relations in union or craft-supported environments
Familiarity with HRIS systems and data reporting tools #LI-AK1
