Job Description

Description The Executive Director of Human Resources will play a meaningful, hands-on leadership role in supporting our people and strengthening a workplace culture where employees feel valued, supported, and connected to our mission. This position leads the planning, development, coordination, and ongoing improvement of HR policies, programs, and departmental activities while ensuring legal compliance and advancing the organization's goals for talent, engagement, and retention.
Responsibilities include:
Provide leadership and oversight for HR staff, departmental functions, required reporting, and compliance filings. Collaborate with senior leadership and the board to understand the organization's goals and strategy related to retention, organizational development and management development. Plan, lead, develop, coordinate, and implement policies, processes, training and initiatives to support the organization's human resources, compliance and strategy needs. Provide expert advice and coaching to leaders, managers and employees as appropriate. Administer, develop and maintain the HR system; create reports, analyze data and make recommendations to forward the organization. Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, colleges, community partners, YMCA & BGC representatives. Member of the Executive Team. Attend Board of Director meetings and other board-related events The ideal candidate will bring both strategic insight and a people-centered approach to overseeing key human resources functions, including compensation, benefits, and leave management; employee relations, disciplinary matters, disputes, and investigations; recruitment and onboarding; volunteer management; performance and talent management; recognition and morale; health and safety; and training and development. Requirements
KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or relevant field. Thorough knowledge of State and Federal employment laws Working knowledge of MS Office and HRMS experience required.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5 years of human resources generalist experience. Minimum of 2 years managing and directing staff.
SKILLS:
Ability to think strategically. Must possess excellent computer, organization and follow through skills. Ability to meet deadlines under pressure. Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional interpersonal and problem-solving skills Strong ability to lead, develop and manage a team This position is an executive-level position that may require on-call responsibilities during unusual hours during the week and on weekends.
