Job Description

Human Resources Manager AGM Management, LLC | Troy, MI (Corporate Office) | Full-Time, On-Site $110,000+| Reports to President Who We Are AGM Management is a residential property management company operating multifamily communities across roughly sixteen states, with a portfolio concentrated in affordable housing. The work is mission-driven in a concrete way: the properties we run are home to families and seniors who depend on them being safe, well-maintained, and well-managed. Our corporate office in Troy, Michigan supports on-site teams across the country. The Role We are hiring an HR Manager to own day-to-day human resources for a multi-state, largely field-based workforce. This is a hands-on generalist role, not a purely advisory one: you will run the HR function, partner with our Recruiting Coordinator, and be the person managers and employees call. The scope spans employee relations, performance management, compliance across our operating states, HRIS and reporting, onboarding and retention, and our culture programs. You will report to the President and work directly with regional and property-level leaders. Because much of this job is built on daily, in-person contact with the leaders you support and the systems you run, the role is based full-time at our Troy office, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. What You'll Do Employee relations and manager support. Advise managers and regional leaders on performance issues, investigations, accommodations, and difficult conversations; handle escalated matters directly. Compliance. Keep our policies and practices compliant and write updates when we want to make changes. HRIS, payroll, and reporting. Serve as our HRIS owner (Paycor). Build and maintain reports and dashboards on turnover, time-to-fill, engagement, and labor cost, and bring recommendations to leadership. Benefits administration. Choose a medical plan that balances cost to employers vs benefit to employees, and roll it out to employees via open enrollment and onboarding. Talent and retention. Partner with the Recruiting Coordinator on sourcing and selection, and own the retention side: structured onboarding, 30/60/90-day check-ins, stay and exit interviews, and development planning. Culture and communication. Lead the annual company Summit and other programs that build connection across a dispersed team; roll out policy changes and gather feedback from the field. Process and tools. Build the processes and workflows that make HR scale, and lead adoption of new software and AI tools — including coaching managers on using them well. Organizational planning. Contribute to role clarity, org design, and succession planning as the company grows. Fulfill all other assigned job duties as deemed necessary and appropriate by upper-level management. What You'll Bring 5-8+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally including a generalist or manager role supporting a multi-site or multi-state workforce Bachelor's degree required; SPHR or
SHRM-SCP
preferred Working knowledge of multi-state employment law and the judgment to know when to escalate to counsel Strong HRIS and reporting skills; you are comfortable learning a new platform quickly and finding the data you need in it (Paycor experience a plus) An analytical bent — you use workforce data to make a case, not just to fill a report Credibility with managers: you can coach, push back, and deliver hard news while keeping the relationship intact Clear, direct written and verbal communication Ownership.
