Summary The Senior Human Resources Manager reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for all aspects of the human resources functions. As a business partner to the organization, the incumbent works to strategically plan organizational development, workforce planning, employee relations, compliance, talent management and culture building. The role also partners closely with executive leadership to ensure HR policies, programs and initiatives support operational excellence, regulatory compliance and long-term organizational growth. Essential Duties Active leader to participate in the staffing strategy, creating policies and creating a positive work environment Manages the Human Resources Department staff and ensures that services provided to internal and external customers meet or exceed requirements Understands the company's business with respect to plant environment, product, customer base and market differentiation International/foreign Visa management Provides local plant with human resource services, policies and programs, and initiatives that addresses the needs of the business Drives recruiting efforts for diverse plant positions (employs innovative and creative sourcing/recruiting techniques) Leads the Performance Management and Talent Planning Review Process, facilitating robust performance reviews and talent pipeline management Develops and implements a comprehensive proactive Positive Employee Engagement strategy to maintain union free status and facilitates the building of employee pride in their relationship with SLPT and a strong participatory engagement culture Coaches and counsels managers/supervisors on developing and maintaining a positive employee relations atmosphere and an open and positive culture Provides leadership in the employee relations arena related to such areas as Communication Council, Peer Review, handling of problem employees and disciplinary action and absence control Conducts training needs analysis to identify gaps and recommend solutions; sources and or delivers development programs to address training needs Provides training and direction on human resource policies and procedures and works with the management team to ensure they are implemented and clearly understood Identifies legal and government reporting requirements which fall under the responsibility of the human resources function and ensures policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance Implements a consistent and defensible process for fairly dealing with disciplinary issues in order to protect the Company's interests Utilizes effective tactical approaches to solving or averting people problems and potential litigation Investigates employee concerns, evaluates and offers possible resolutions, and provides work related advice, guidance and direction to resolve employee relations issues Conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations, and is able to identify trends and develop corrective action plans to address issues Manages non-occupational insurance claims and workers compensation matters in conjunction with occupational therapists to ensure individual accommodations and modified duties are offered if appropriate Serves as project lead for employee functions (e.g. wellness fair, picnic, plant meetings, various social events, etc.) Monitors and observes the Company's safety procedures and policies at all times Responsible for writing and posting notices of vacancies internally and for utilizing social media sites to attract high caliber talent Establishes human resources metrics including metrics to monitor, measure and diagnose quality of HR results delivered Conducts and or participates in salary and hourly compensation and benefit surveys and analyzes data to determine competitive position Work with local IT staff and payroll provider to ensure effective implementation of time and attendance data collection process and other human resources applications as appropriate Interacts and audits payroll function to ensure compliance with policy and laws concerning hourly and salary payroll administration matters Provides input during annual benefit review Facilitates difficult staff issues, dealing with under/over staffing and refereeing disputes Play a lead role in the introduction and implementation of organizational improvement efforts such as lean and create an environment that encourages "ownership and commitment" to change Prepares and handles highly confidential material. Maintains the integrity of all data and spreadsheets for all plant personnel. Maintains accuracy and completeness of all personnel files. Interacts with SHRM and various other private and government organizations to identify and share "Best Business/HR Practices" within SLPT HR community Responsible for implementation of onboarding process for new employees. This includes, but is not limited to ensuring that employees have everything they need to begin work on their first day, are provided with appropriate company orientation, are provided with job description and initial goals, etc. Carries out other miscellaneous duties as assigned
Qualifications Education/Knowledge:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or related discipline together with PHR or SPHR certification preferred (Senior Professional Human Resources)
Experience:
Extensive 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources Management, preferably in manufacturing Experience in manufacturing or automotive Tier 1 strongly preferred Strong knowledge of Federal and State legislation Progressive approach to employee relations that encourages collaboration Strong customer service orientation Must be able to collect and assimilate data and develop appropriate recommendations and action plans for senior management Strong analytical skills with a creative mind for problem solving with good business sense Has earned a reputation for dedication, efficiency, technical contribution and commitment to excellence Experience in ADP WFN, preferably but not necessarily with the implementation phase Proficient in use of Microsoft Suite HR Planning, work force diversity, selection and placement, training and development, compensation and benefits, health, safety and security, organizational effectiveness, employee and labor relations Specific for
