Hours/week We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced HR expert and Payroll administrator to join our Finance Department. This is a hands-on lead role managing human resources and payroll, and functions within a growing nonprofit organization. The ideal candidate is tech savvy, accurate, dependable, service-oriented, and thrives in a collaborative team environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines. Key Responsibilities Human Resources Manager Job Postings and Interviewing Coordinate onboarding of new employees Convey essential company policies to new hires & existing staff members Prepare offer letters and employee status forms Complete e-Verify processing and employee setup Manage employee enrollments and updates in Paychex Maintain personnel files and employee roster information Manage Annual Reviews and Performance Improvement Plans Coordinate benefits administration with external providers Manage annual Open Enrollment of benefits Support employee handbook updates and HR compliance Manage termination processes, including: Termination Meetings Final payroll calculations Benefits termination and COBRA notifications NJ unemployment updates Exit documentation and checklists Coordinate company-wide termination communications Payroll Specialist Process semimonthly payroll for exempt and hourly employees Manage payroll for multi-state employees Track and reconcile PTO accruals Process special payroll items including bonuses, stipends, retroactive pay, bereavement, and PTO payouts Prepare payroll journal entries and departmental allocations Maintain payroll and holiday calendars Support payroll compliance and reporting requirements Experience with Paychex strongly preferred Qualifications Must have Bachelor's degree or higher in Human Resources, Finance or Accounting 5+ years current experience in HR Administration at the policy level and Payroll Administration Expert level understanding of payroll processing and HR compliance Experience working with multi-state employees preferred Great communicator with interpersonal skills Tech savvy Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to handle confidential information professionally Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting/payroll systems like Paychex or ADP Nonprofit experience is a plus State of New Jersey HR administration experience a plus
