  • Southampton Hospital Position Summary The Director, Human Resources for the Stony Brook Southampton Hospital (SBSH) is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and directing all human resources functions at Southampton Hospital.
This role involves developing and implementing HR strategies that align with SBSH HR growth and strategic objectives as well as the hospital's mission and vision. This position will be a source of consultation and expertise to managers and senior leaders on HR related issues for the SBSH/StaffCo PEO employees ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and collective bargaining agreements. Dually reporting to the Executive Director of StaffCo, the Director, Human Resources and the Chief Administrative Officer for Stony Brook Southampton Hospital (SBSH), will collaborate with leadership to set the framework and expectations, coach leaders, ensure accountability and consistency, protect the business and mitigate risks. This will include effective talent management, compensation, performance management, benefits and wellness programs, rewards & recognition, learning & development, compliance, employee and labor relations, and organizational development. The successful candidate will be creative, collaborative, and particularly adept at balancing multiple priorities. This position requires a keen understanding of the business, its culture and strategy to recommend creative and dynamic solutions using experience, data analytics and organizational agility to guide decisions, and to ensure best practices are being adopted and that key initiative deliverables are met within specified timelines. Job Duties & Essential Functions HR Leadership Serves as an advisor to hospital executives and managers on HR-related matters, providing insights and recommendations for improving workforce management. Leads and mentors HR staff to ensure effective execution of HR programs. Budget Management Drafts and manages the HR department's budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources for recruitment, training, employee recognition and other HR functions. HR Compliance Partner with IT and StaffCo to implement and upgrade HRIS systems ensuring integration and alignment with SBSH strategic HR goals. Maximize automation of HR processes including recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits administration, time and attendance, performance management and employee data management aligning with other StaffCo locations. HR Planning Collaborate with hospital leadership to align HR strategies with the hospital's overall objectives. Ensures workforce planning and talent management strategies meet the hospital's evolving needs. Talent Acquisition Oversee the recruitment and selection process to attract top talent and manage succession planning to ensure leadership continuity. Develop strategies to enhance employee retention, improve job satisfaction and reduce turnover. Oversee the development of competitive and equitable compensation practices to attract and retain talent. Performance Management Identify key performance indicators for HR and talent management functions; assesses success based on metrics. Implement systems to assess and improve employee performance, aligning individual objectives with company goals. Employee Relations Develop programs to enhance employee engagement, address concerns, and maintain a positive work environment. Manage reward and recognition programs to motivate employees and enhance job satisfaction and retention. Promote HR practices which support a diverse and inclusive work environment. Labor Relations Administer and interpret terms of collective bargaining agreements. Foster positive relations with union. Conduct investigations fairly and thoroughly. Effectively manage the process of resolving employee grievances, mediations, and arbitrations. Training and Development Implement training programs to support continuing education and development of leaders, managers and employees. Required experience and qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. At least eight (8) years of full time progressively responsible experience as a Human Resource professional. In lieu of Bachelor's degree, a minimum of eleven (11) years of progressively responsible experience as a Human Resource professional. In-depth knowledge of HR functions, including talent management, compensation, benefits and wellness programs, performance management, rewards & recognition, learning & development, compliance, employee and labor relations, and organizational development. Proven leadership experience and record of accomplishment in leading an HR team/department. Strong strategic planning and implementation skills. Ability to analyze HR metrics and utilize data-driven decision making. Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to deliver clear reports, instruction, and presentations. Excellent leadership, interpersonal abilities, and conflict resolution skills. Organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail in following through managing multiple projects to meet established deadlines. Preferred experience and qualifications SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred. HR experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Physical Demands Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. As part of employment at Southampton Hospital, there may be occasions when travel to other locations is needed to support operational needs.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established based on relevant experience. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBSH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Your total compensation goes beyond the number in your paycheck! Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements: Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Southampton Hospital's Employee Health Services
