Representative duties include:
Preparation and maintenance of an Employee Policies and Procedures Handbook in coordination with the Department Managers. Preparation and maintenance of current job descriptions and related personnel forms for all employee classifications. Posting of all job vacancies. Reviewing resumes for job vacancies, interviewing selected candidates, and referring candidates for second interviews to the Department Managers. Overseeing pre-employment evaluations and drug tests. Conducting employee orientation sessions for new employees. Administering the necessary paperwork for company-provided employee benefits, including workers' compensation, health and dental insurance. Administering the necessary paperwork for short and long-term disability, and family leave. Organizing all company social activities that are held for employees' benefit, i.e. the annual company picnic, softball tournaments, the holiday party, etc. Counseling Department Managers on hiring, promotion, disciplinary and termination actions. Reviewing all hiring, promotion, disciplinary and termination actions and making recommendations to the Department Manager for final approval. Acting as liaison between employees and their supervisors in case of employee grievances. Administering the company pension and 401(k) plans in cooperation with the Controller/Treasurer. Implementing and keeping abreast of all federal, state and local labor and employment laws and regulations. Ensuring The K Company's compliance with all federal, state and local labor, discrimination and employment laws in conjuction with the Safety Manager. Serving as the managing editor of all Welcome emails and introductions. Ensuring policies and procedures are in place to educate employees on discrimination and sexual harassment issues and to prevent such incidents from occurring. Cooperating with the Accountant on record keeping functions.
Job Qualifications:
B.A. in organization development or B.S. in business with a concentration in human resources. A minimum of five years' experience in human resources with two years of it in a managerial position. Understanding of all federal, state and local labor, employment, discrimination and sexual harassment laws and regulations and the ability to implement them effectively. Excellent people skills. Excellent communications and written skills. Ability to arbitrate and counsel all levels of employees on confidential issues pertaining to their employment. In-depth understanding and experience in benefits and compensation management. Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software and technology, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
