Position Summary:
The Human Resources Director is responsible for administering and directing the City's human resources functions; ensuring uniform application of City policies; ensuring compliance with all applicable Federal, State and local employment laws.
Critical Skills:
- Knowledge of labor law and laws related to human resources, such as Equal Employment Opportunity, Americans with Disabilities, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Family and Medical Leave Act; Ohio Worker's Compensation and more
- Labor relations - collective bargaining and all related State Employee Relations Board requirements
- Knowledge of basic budgetary principles and practices
- Ability to speak effectively one-to-one and before groups and respond to questions
- Ability to deliver effective presentations and training
- Excellent attention to detail and understanding of the comments or questions of others
- Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality
- Effective leadership skills to develop cooperative working relationships with employees, senior management, elected officials, the public, partner agencies, and others
- Ability to effectively manage conflict or dissent and use it productively to enhance the quality of decisions
- Knowledge of administration and supervision of staff and activities
- Knowledge of payroll concepts
- Effectively and successfully select and evaluate employees
- Provide performance feedback and facilitate professional growth
Experience & Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources required, Master's degree or advanced HR credentials preferred; seven (7) to ten (10) years of manager/director-level experience; valid Ohio Driver's license; or any combination of education, training and work experience which provides the required skills to perform the essential functions of the job.
Pay & Benefits:
The salary range is $51.55 to $72.17 per hour (annualized) in Pay Band 11 of the City Wage Ordinance.
