Dayton Live is looking to add a Human Resources Directorto their team. The Human Resources Director is responsible for leading all aspects of the organization's human resources function. This position serves as the primary HR resource for leaders and employees, balancing strategic planning with day-to-day execution. The HR Director partners with senior leadership to develop people strategies that support organizational goals while ensuring consistent, compliant, and employee-focused HR practices. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who enjoys building processes and solving complex employee issues but is equally willing to roll up their sleeves and manage the daily responsibilities of the HR department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities HR Leadership & Strategy Serve as the organization's primary HR leader and trusted advisor to management. Partner with senior leadership on workforce planning, organizational development, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives. Attend senior leadership meetings and provide guidance on people-related matters. Develop and recommend HR policies, procedures, and best practices. Analyze HR metrics and trends to identify opportunities for improvement. Lead special HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives. Employee Relations & Performance Management Provide guidance and coaching to managers on employee relations matters. Conduct workplace investigations and recommend appropriate resolutions. Lead performance management initiatives, including coaching managers through performance concerns and disciplinary actions. Manage employee separations, including resignations, layoffs, and involuntary terminations. Promote a positive workplace culture through proactive employee engagement efforts. Benefits & Compliance Administer employee benefit programs and serve as the primary point of contact for benefit-related questions. Coordinate annual open enrollment and benefits education. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. Manage leave administration, including
FMLA, ADA
accommodations, workers' compensation, and other protected leaves. Maintain HR policies and employee handbook. Talent Acquisition Lead recruitment efforts for exempt, leadership, and other key positions. Partner with hiring managers to develop recruitment strategies. Support the HR Coordinator with recruiting initiatives as needed. Participate in interviews and hiring decisions for critical roles. HR Operations Oversee onboarding and orientation processes. Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data. Support payroll and other HR administrative processes as needed. Supervise and mentor the HR Coordinator. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. 5+ years of progressively responsible HR experience. Previous experience managing employee relations, benefits, recruiting, and performance management. Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices. SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or
