Job Description

Director, HR Operations Elyria, OH, United States (On-site) Job Description The Director of HR Operations is a senior HR leader responsible for leading and developing HR Business Partners (HRBPs) supporting multiple U.S. based Manufacturing and Distribution centers. This role ensures consistent, compliant, and effective delivery of HR programs and practices aligned to operational priorities, workforce strategy, and business outcomes. The Director partners closely with President Americas, site leaders and HR Business Partners to drive labor strategy, employee relations excellence, workforce planning, talent management, and continuous improvement across a geographically dispersed, frontline heavy workforce.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Lead, coach, and develop a team of HR Business Partners supporting manufacturing and distribution operations across multiple U.S. locations. Serve as a strategic partner to President Americas and site leaders, providing guidance on organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, and people‑related business risks. Drive sharing of best practices, standardization and continuous improvement of HR operational practices across sites while remaining responsive to local needs. While supporting both union and non-union environments, provide oversight and support for complex employee relations issues including investigations, corrective actions, and conflict resolution. Understand and mitigate corporate risk associated with relevant employment laws/policies. Ensure consistent execution of Professional Tools and/or Emerson's core HR processes including performance management, succession planning, compensation programs, and talent reviews. Monitor key HR metrics (turnover, engagement, absenteeism, safety‑related trends, workforce stability) and provide actionable insights to leadership. Lead the execution of Emerson's Your Voice Counts (YVC) Survey for all Professional Tools U.S. Operations Manufacturing and Distribution Centers. Work with sites on actions plans and execution of those plans. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations, including FLSA, OSHA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, and applicable state requirements. Lead audits and policy updates to mitigate organizational risk. Support leadership capability building through coaching, training, and targeted development initiatives including driving the DDI training program. Other duties as assigned.
Who You Are:
You are a strategic and experienced HR leader with a strong background supporting manufacturing and distribution operations across multiple locations. You effectively lead and develop HR Business Partners while serving as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and people‑related risk. Comfortable in both union and non‑union environments, you bring expertise in employee relations, compliance, and risk mitigation. You drive consistency and continuous improvement across HR processes, leverage data to inform decisions, and are passionate about building leadership capability and strong, engaged teams.
For This Role, You Will Need:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field or commensurate experience. 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership of HR teams. Strong background in employee relations, labor law compliance, and multi‑site HR operations. Proven ability to influence senior leaders and operate effectively in fast‑paced, operationally driven environments. Willingness to travel regularly to manufacturing and distribution sites.
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
Master's degree or MBA preferred. SHRM‑SCP, SPHR, or equivalent senior HR certification preferred. Experience in unionized environments is preferred. Demonstrated success leading change initiatives and HR operational transformations preferred. Our Culture & Commitment to
