M. Palmer, a leading chocolate manufacturer located in Reading, PA, is seeking a Human Resources Director to join our team! As the Human Resources Director, you will provide both strategic and hands-on leadership across all areas of HR while ensuring the company maintains a positive work environment built on strong culture, teamwork, and employee engagement. This role serves as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and works closely with executives and department leaders to develop and implement HR strategies that align with the company's goals and values. The position is responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring legal compliance, supporting organizational growth and change, and fostering a strong employee experience throughout the organization. This position plays a critical role in building strong relationships throughout the organization while effectively balancing strategic leadership with hands-on execution. The ideal candidate will be able to navigate complex employee and business matters with professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion. We are seeking a leader who is confident, collaborative, and highly professional in their approach. Responsibilities Human Resources Leadership & Strategy Provide leadership and direction for all Human Resources functions while ensuring HR initiatives support overall business objectives Act as a strategic partner and trusted resource to leaders across the organization on people strategy, employee relations, and business decisions Collaborate with executive leadership on workforce planning, organizational development, and change management initiatives Lead key HR priorities while balancing strategic focus with strong day-to-day operational execution Talent Development, Leadership & Team Management Lead, develop, and mentor a collaborative HR team while fostering accountability, clear expectations, and professional growth Oversee talent acquisition, leadership development, and succession planning to build a strong and sustainable talent pipeline Partner with managers to enhance performance management, coaching, and employee development initiatives across the organization HR Operations, Compliance & Continuous Improvement Oversee HR operations including payroll and benefits administration, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations Lead employee relations, investigations, and performance matters with consistency, fairness, and sound judgment Ensure consistent application of company policies while supporting a positive, engaged, and accountable workplace culture Partner with leadership and legal counsel on risk mitigation and sensitive employee matters Drive continuous improvement through HR metrics, reporting, process optimization, and effective use of HR systems and data Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required Prior experience in manufacturing, operations, or multi-site experience required HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR preferred 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including leadership experience Confident leadership demeanor with the ability to communicate professionally and build credibility across all levels of the organization Ability to thoughtfully challenge leaders when appropriate and navigate sensitive situations with professionalism, discretion, and strong sound judgment. Demonstrated experience leading an HR function and managing HR professionals Prior experience in employee relations, compliance, talent management, and HR operations, with a strong ability to balance strategic priorities and day-to-day HR execution. Experience supporting organizational growth, transformation, or operational change initiatives is strongly preferred.
