Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE
The Human Resources/Safety Manager functions as a key member of the Manufacturing Plant Leadership Team. In conjunction with senior management, the Human Resource Manager is responsible to build excellent employee relationships within the facility. This position is also responsible to develop and implement plant Policies and Procedures consistent with corporate and regional policies to assure consistent and positive employee relations. Assists in planning and organizing the labor force to effectively meet company objectives. Implements and supports training initiatives including supervisory and new hire training and On-Boarding programs. Develops and/or administers wage, salary and benefit programs following company philosophy. The position plans, directs and implements organization safety program to ensure safe, healthy and accident-free work environment by performing the following duties personally or through Supervisors.

ESSENTIAL JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provide professional and "engaged" HR and Safety support and advisory to employees at all levels Collaborate with HR team members on design, development, introduction and/or integration of HR processes, practices, programs, and initiatives. Ensure effective decision making, particularly related to the human capital of the business. Bringing best practice and external perspectives to strategic and operational business discussions and people management decision-making Continuous building of business relationships and trust to achieve and strengthen internal and external business partnerships. Manage the staffing process by identifying sources for potential employees, screening, interviewing, scheduling reference and background investigations and drug screens, extending job offers in conformance with company policies and procedures and federal, state, and local laws. Become the resident expert on plant human resource policies and procedures to aid and guide supervisors and managers to correctly interpret the requirements and processes including, but not limited to: terminations, lay-offs, recall from lay-off, job postings, promotions, attendance control, disciplinary practices and vacation scheduling. Partners with Leadership on strategic community outreach and engagement such as supporting local job fairs, participating in community service, and maintaining local hiring partnerships. HR point of contact for onboarding and new employee orientation support. Conduct and stay current on research (Government Regulations / Legal / HR / Industry / Best Practices) as needed. Assist with employee disciplinary actions to include verbal / written Corrective Actions. Conduct investigations of employee relations concerns and provide recommendations / advisement while consulting coordinating with legal resources as needed. Initiate, develop and implement HR related programs and/or projects as needed. Uses organizational diagnostics to proactively identify and react to key talent/employee engagement challenges and opportunities in the business. Experience in HR Analytics and Troubleshooting Creating HR reports using data from various sources and preparing periodic and special reports when needed or requested. Making recommendations to improve Human Resources and Safety policies, procedures and programs Performs routine equipment inspections as required compliance dictates. Facilitate regular safety meetings, prepare and lead plant safety updates on monthly safety call with Corporate. Coordinate safety walks, communicate any/all findings and follow up to ensure compliance. Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment/tools and other materials. Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented. Responsible for the First Aid room - ensure necessary supplies are stocked and room remains clean. Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies. Maintains safety files and records, both written and on the computer, to include OSHA records and logs. Safety orientation with all new employees. Implement and train Behavior Based Safety (BBS) programs. Encourages accountability within Leadership for employee safety in their areas and make safety the number 1 priority. CPR HIRING PROFILE
Education:
Four-year degree preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
Work Experience:
Five to ten years of progressive human resource generalist experience in a team-based environment, Manufacturing experience in a medium-large manufacturing environment preferred. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus, but not required.
Competencies:
Integrity, Business Acumen, Analytical, Problem Solving, Oral and Written Proficient computer skills with demonstrated experience in Microsoft office products specializing in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Ability to quickly learn HRIS and Applicant Tracking system functionalities. Must have excellent organizational and communication skills including clear and succinct writing skills. Must be dependable and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to set priorities and complete tasks timely. Knowledgeable of current employment laws and government regulations that pertain to employee relations matters. Ability to work logically, effectively, and professionally with all employees and external customers/vendors. Strong analytical skills and practical judgement Communication, Management Skills, Judgment, Planning/Organizing, Safety and Security, Interpersonal Skills, Computer Skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, Customer focused, Bias to Action, Ethics, Diversity, and Teamwork.
