Job Description:
Our client is looking for a Human Resources Business Partner to support their Newport News facility. This role serves as a trusted HR resource for non-union managers and employees, partnering with site leadership on a wide range of people-focused initiatives. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, multi-priority environment and can balance professionalism with discretion while addressing the needs of both employees and management.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as a strategic HR partner, aligning people initiatives with broader business goals Collaborate with leadership to develop and roll out HR best practices and process improvements Maintain a consistent, visible presence across the facility, building relationships with staff at all levels Work with site and functional leaders to resolve HR-related business challenges Lead employee relations investigations and coordinate on resolutions with senior HR and legal partners Help design and execute engagement programs and organizational development initiatives Support recruitment efforts, both internal mobility and external sourcing for hard-to-fill roles Build out retention and knowledge-transfer strategies tailored to site needs Partner cross-functionally to develop and deliver workplace training programs Track and analyze HR metrics to guide decision-making Support core HR functions including compensation, benefits, leaves of absence, employee relations, performance management, recognition, records, safety, and training Create and manage employee recognition programs that strengthen culture and engagement Monitor compliance with applicable employment laws and help update policies as needed Take point on special HR projects as assigned Take on additional responsibilities as business needs evolve
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or a related field Minimum 2 years of experience as an HRBP, ideally within a manufacturing or operations environment Experience with employee relations, performance management, and compliance Proficiency with HRIS systems Strong communication skills across written, verbal, and digital channels Demonstrated accountability and sound judgment under pressure A customer-service mindset toward both internal and external stakeholders Self-starter with strong initiative and independent problem-solving skills Comfortable navigating complex or difficult situations with professionalism
