You'll support the HR department leadership across recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and compliance — keeping people processes moving, records clean, and our team members feeling heard. This is a hands-on support role with real ownership of core HR functions and the opportunity to be an essential part of how the business runs. HR Generalist (Part-Time) The HR Generalist supports the HR department leadership in the day-to-day mechanics of recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and HR compliance. You will serve as a reliable point of contact for employees and managers, own core HR administrative functions, and ensure that people data flowing in and out of the HR department is accurate, timely, and well-documented. This role operates with a high degree of attention to detail and discretion.

Responsibilities Recruiting & Onboarding Job Postings & Coordination:
Post open positions, screen applicants, and coordinate interviews with hiring managers to keep the recruiting process moving efficiently.
New Hire Onboarding:
Guide new team members through the onboarding process — paperwork, orientation, and setup — ensuring a smooth and welcoming first experience.
Offboarding:
Coordinate separation paperwork, conduct exit processes, and ensure termination details are accurate, complete, and handled with care.
Applicant Tracking:
Maintain organized records of candidates and hiring activity across all open roles.
Employee Relations & Compliance Employee Support:
Serve as a reliable, approachable point of contact for team member questions regarding policies, benefits, scheduling, and general HR matters.
Performance & Documentation:
Support managers in documenting performance conversations, corrective actions, and employee notes in accordance with company standards.
California Labor Law Compliance:
Maintain working knowledge of California-specific employment requirements including meal and rest period rules, final pay requirements, and leave of absence obligations under state law.
Leave Administration:
Assist with tracking and coordinating employee leaves of absence including sick leave, FMLA, and California-specific leave programs.
HR Records:
Maintain complete, organized, and compliant employee files — both digital and physical — and support responses to audits or agency inquiries as directed.
Benefits & Payroll Coordination Benefits Administration:
Serve as the day-to-day coordination point for employee benefits enrollment, changes, and questions — liaising with brokers or vendors as needed.
Payroll Support:
Collect and verify HR-related inputs for payroll including new hire data, terminations, status changes, and deductions, ensuring accurate and timely delivery to the payroll processor.
Reporting:
Generate standard HR reports for leadership; assist with headcount, turnover, and compliance-related data as needed. Administrative & Operational Support Maintain accurate and organized HR files and support data integrity across HR systems.
Routine Inquiries:
Respond to standard HR questions from internal teams; escalate complex matters to HR leadership.
General Support:
Provide administrative support to the HR department including scheduling, document preparation, and coordination tasks as assigned. Qualifications 3-5 years of experience in an HR Generalist or similar people operations role. Experience with full-cycle recruiting, onboarding, and employee relations. Working knowledge of California employment law including wage and hour rules, leave requirements, and final pay obligations. Proficiency with HRIS platforms (e.g., Gusto, Rippling, ADP, or similar). Highly organized with the ability to manage recurring deadlines reliably. High degree of discretion in handling confidential employee information. Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to connect with team members at all levels. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. PHR, SHRM-CP, or related HR certification is a plus, but not required.
