Full Job Description Summary:
The Human Resource Generalist supports the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources function within a member-focused credit union environment. This role contributes to the accurate maintenance of HRIS data, assists with payroll processing, and provides support for benefits administration in partnership with internal teams and external vendors. The position also supports recruitment activities, employee engagement initiatives, and internal HR communications to help foster an engaged and service-driven workforce. Acting as a liaison between HR and various departments, the incumbent helps deliver responsive, people-focused support that aligns with the credit union's mission and operational goals. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, a collaborative approach, and a commitment to confidentiality, compliance, and continuous improvement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following - Other duties may be assigned: Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning Manage full-cycle recruitment: sourcing, screening, coordinating interviews, and onboarding in collaboration with hiring managers. Ensure receipt of the Talent Requisition form with approvals by Sr. Leadership and President in order to control head count. Request pre-employment background verifications and assessments with the candidates. Coordinate with the HR Director or the HR Business Partner to negotiate compensation packages with candidates, recruiters, and third-party agencies. Represent the organization at job fairs and manage job postings across platforms. Deliver new hire orientation and ensure a smooth, compliant onboarding experience. Conduct 30/60/90-day check-ins to improve retention. Maintain and oversee licensing requirements (e.g., NMLS) for applicable roles. Benefits & Leave Administration Work with the HRBP to assist in the coordination of annual open enrollment, benefits education, and vendor communications. Support leave of absence processes (FMLA, ADA, etc.) and ensure compliance with applicable laws. Support coordination of wellness programs, including webinars, health insurance discount programs, the annual Health Fair, flu shot clinics, and any other wellness-related events. HRIS, Payroll & Compliance Update employee data in the HRIS with accuracy and confidentiality. Be a backup for payroll processing and ensure coordination between HRIS and payroll systems. Generate personnel actions and job changes, securing necessary approvals. Ensure compliance with EEO, AAP, OSHA, and other regulatory reporting. Support internal and external audits with accurate documentation. Recognition & Employee Engagement Assist with employee recognition programs including spot bonuses, anniversary awards, and internal nominations. Coordinate gift ordering and logistics for employee life events (e.g., births, bereavement). HR Programs, Projects & Process Improvement Contribute to strategic HR initiatives, employee engagement programs, and cultural activities. Lead or support cross-functional projects focused on efficiency, compliance, and cost control. Use feedback from exit and stay interviews to improve retention and engagement. Update the credit union organizational chart to maintain it current.
Compliance:
BSA Compliance - every employee is required to uphold the credit union's compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering policies and procedures. Specific functions within TFCU will take into consideration the awareness of unusual or suspicious activity that is relevant to the department. In addition to any other assigned training courses, online BSA and OFAC courses must be completed at least annually, as made available by the Training and/or Compliance Departments. Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, Customer Identification Program, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, Fair Lending and Credit Card Act. Comply with all TFCU policies and procedures to ensure compliance with such regulations. Performs other duties as required with or without accommodation. Must be able to present information in presentation format, forms, table and spreadsheets. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and assist with updates to Employee Handbook. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, members, and outside resource partners. Comfortable and flexible working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must demonstrate and prove ethical management of sensitive and confidential matters related to all HR activities. High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree in human resources management or business management. Three years, verifiable working experience in Human Resources preferably in a credit union or financial institution. Working knowledge of Federal and State employment laws, rules and regulations. Working knowledge of MS Office - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio. Working knowledge of an HRIS database can either be Paylocity, UKG, or any related/similar software.
