Job Description

The Human Resources Generalist supports the daily operations of the Human Resources department and serves as a resource for employees and management. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and able to effectively support a workforce that includes CDL drivers, mechanics, dispatchers, and administrative personnel. •Please note: this is an on-site position in our Michigan City, IN terminal•Recruiting & Onboarding Assist with recruiting efforts for drivers, mechanics, dispatchers, and office staff. Coordinate job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and hiring processes. Facilitate new employee orientation and onboarding activities. Employee Relations Serve as a point of contact for employee questions regarding policies, benefits, and workplace concerns. Promote positive employee relations and support employee engagement initiatives. Assist in resolving workplace issues while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Benefits & Leave Administration Support benefits enrollment and employee benefit programs. Assist employees with benefits-related questions and documentation. Help administer leave programs, including
FMLA, ADA
accommodations Compliance & Records Management Maintain accurate employee personnel files and HR records. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. Assist with employee handbook updates and policy administration. Support DOT and FMCSA employment-related requirements as applicable. HR Administration Prepare HR reports and maintain data within HRIS systems. Assist with performance review processes and employee development programs. Participate in HR projects and process improvement initiatives. Minimum of 2-3 years of Human Resources Generalist/Specialist experience. Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR information systems. Preferred Qualifications Experience in transportation environments. SHRM-CP or PHR certification
