Hiring Agency Education & Labor Cabinet | Department of Workforce Development Location 416 S 6th Street Paducah, KY 42003 USA Description The Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet advances education, workforce development, and economic opportunity across the Commonwealth. The Cabinet provides education and training programs, employment and reemployment services, unemployment insurance, and disability determination services to help Kentuckians gain skills, find work, and maintain economic stability. It partners with education providers, workforce boards, and employers to align training with labor market needs and oversees labor programs that promote fair and safe workplaces. The Career Development Office provides workforce services to Kentuckians who are unemployed, under-employed, or searching for a new career path. We also provide a variety of services, such as assistance with unemployment insurance, business downsizing, labor market information, job postings, and recruiting and training. This is a federally funded time-limited (FFTL) position. This means it is a position that is paid entirely as the result of a federal grant. The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant that funds the position. An employee appointed to an FFTL position is required to meet the minimum requirements for the classification. Further, an employee appointed to an FFTL position is designated as an unclassified (non- merit) employee. An FFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit) employee in a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides assistance to job seekers in need of services. Makes referrals to partnering agencies and performs case management and follow-up services. Assists customers in developing leadership skills and planning career moves. Develops employability plans based on vocational aptitudes, interests, and work experience. Works with employers to promote the benefits of employment services and to solicit potential job opportunities for employment service participants. Assists employers with developing job orders and makes job referrals. Keeps a daily log of services. Works in resource room assisting customers with ID.me as well as address questions and concerns. Administers aptitude tests and determine clients' interests, talents, overall job qualifications or training needs. Conducts workshops for job seekers to assist with job search skills, resume writing, and interview assistance.

The successful candidate will be required to ensure the safeguarding and security of all confidential and sensitive information and will be required to complete training, sign acknowledgements, follow all policies and adhere to all statutes and requirements pertaining to the safeguarding and security of confidential and sensitive information while employed and after employment ends. EDUCATION
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS
One year of experience in reviewing, monitoring, determining eligibility for, and/or administering employment service or unemployment insurance programs, or experience in education, public administration, business, human services, military, human resources or a related field. Substitute
