Job Description

SHR Talent has partnered with a family owned and operated international maritime client based out of New Orleans, LA in its search for a Human Resources Generalist. The Human Resources Generalist is a full-time position that will support a growing maritime manufacturing organization by managing core Human Resource functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and payroll support, compliance with federal and Louisiana state employment laws, and development of Human Resources policies and training programs. The ideal candidate combines hands-on Human Resource experience with strong communication skills, maritime or transportation industry exposure, and a proactive approach to improving Human Resources processes to support operational goals in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region.
Responsibilities:
Serve as primary Human Resources Generalist for employee lifecycle including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, offboarding, and exit processing Manage benefits administration and open enrollment with brokers and carriers for health, dental, vision, 401(k), and leave plans Support payroll processing and reconciliation, coordinating with payroll vendor and finance Administer Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), maintain accurate employee records, generate reports and Human Resources metrics Provide employee relations guidance, investigations, performance management support, and conflict resolution Ensure compliance with federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Louisiana employment laws and company policies Develop and deliver training programs such as safety, anti-harassment, compliance and leadership, and maintain training records Update and implement Human Resource policies, employee handbook, and standard operating procedures Support workforce planning, job descriptions, compensation administration, and job evaluations Assist with talent development initiatives, succession planning, and retention strategies Coordinate background checks, drug screens, credential verification, and maritime-specific compliance, as required Participate in special Human Resource projects, change management, and process improvements to enhance employee experience
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), Professional in Human Resources (PHR), or equivalent certification, preferred 3+ years of progressive Human Resource experience as a Human Resources Generalist, or similar role Maritime, logistics, transportation, or manufacturing experience, strongly preferred Working knowledge of Human Resource laws and regulations such as FLSA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA and Louisiana state employment requirements Experience with HRIS systems such as, Workday, ADP, Paylocity and BambooHR and Microsoft Office Proven experience in recruiting, benefits administration, payroll coordination, employee relations, and training delivery Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to partner with leadership and employees at all levels High level of integrity, confidentiality, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Demonstrated problem-solving skills, initiative, and ability to drive projects to completion Availability for occasional travel within the Gulf Coast and ability to work on-site in New Orleans, LA, as required #IND123
