Full Job Description Senior HR Generalist Location:
Grand Rapids, MI Area Environment:
Multi-Shift Manufacturing Overview Our client is seeking an experienced Senior HR Generalist to provide hands-on HR support for a large, multi-shift manufacturing operation in the Grand Rapids area. This role will support a broad range of employee relations, leave administration, compliance, recruiting, and HR operations while partnering closely with supervisors, plant leadership, and the HR Manager. Senior-level candidates may be considered based on experience. Responsibilities Serve as a primary HR resource for hourly and salaried employees across a multi-shift manufacturing environment. Manage employee relations matters, including workplace concerns, investigations, policy violations, performance issues, corrective actions, and terminations. Advise supervisors on performance management, disciplinary situations, documentation, and challenging employee conversations. Administer
FMLA, ADA
accommodations, short-term disability, and other employee leave processes. Coordinate workers' compensation cases, work restrictions, and return-to-work activities in partnership with Operations and Safety. Manage attendance administration, including tracking, employee notifications, and appropriate escalation. Support high-volume recruiting for manufacturing and production positions. Maintain accurate personnel records, employee changes, and HR transactions within the HRIS. Ensure HR files and documentation remain complete, accurate, and prepared for internal or external audits. Support employment compliance requirements, including I-9 documentation and applicable federal and state recordkeeping. Partner with HR and plant leadership on policy interpretation, employee communications, engagement, and workplace issues. Provide backup assistance with timekeeping, attendance, and related payroll matters as needed. Maintain a visible presence within the manufacturing operation and provide HR support across shifts when employee relations matters require it. Qualifications 5+ years of well-rounded HR Generalist experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 2+ years of recruiting experience , ideally within a manufacturing environment or a third-party firm focused on high-volume manufacturing. Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA/accommodations, workers' compensation, employment law, investigations, and corrective action processes . Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Strong judgment, communication, and documentation skills with the ability to independently handle sensitive employee matters. $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
