Job Description
West Shore Community College (WSCC) seeks an individual who is able to thrive in a role that requires careful attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive information with full confidentiality. The Human Resources Specialist performs professional-level human resources functions supporting recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance reporting, employee records management, Title IX investigations, and payroll support. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this individual ensures accurate execution of HR processes and provides technical expertise in day-to-day HR operations. This position exercises independent judgment within established policies and procedures and serves as a key operational resource to employees and supervisors. WSCC is an innovative and progressive institution of higher learning located in a picturesque setting near Lake Michigan in a part of the state that offers year-round recreational activities. The College serves a multi-county district that includes Mason, Manistee, Lake, and Oceana counties. WSCC offers a student-centered and team-based atmosphere with a staff that is dedicated to excellence in serving students' learning needs. Key Responsibilities Assist with recruitment and manage onboarding processes, including job postings, applicant screening, interview coordination and new hire orientation Maintain accurate employee records including processing status changes, annual reviews and separation documents Administer employee benefits and support payroll operations Support compliance and investigative functions, such as government reporting, FOIA coordination and serving as lead Title IX Investigator Required Education/Experience Bachelor's degree and demonstrated experience in human resources operations, records management, or benefits administration To be a best fit for this position you need: Commitment to accuracy, compliance and continuous improvement in HR processes and service delivery Ability to work independently, make sound decisions within established policies and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills allowing you to support employees and supervisors with clarity, professionalism and respect A calm, objective and fair approach when navigating sensitive issues, investigations or employee relations concerns Compensation Salary starting at or above $51,693, commensurate with skills/experience.
