Human Resources Generalist 8785 Green Lake Trail, Forest Lake, MN 55025 From $24 an hour - Full-time From $24 an hour - Full-time About us Applewood Nursery and Landscape Supply is a small but growing business in Forest Lake, MN. We are fast-paced, customer-centric and engaging and are looking for hard working and motivated individuals to join our team. We provide high quality products and landscaping services to both retail customers and contractors.

Casual work attire Safe work environment Company discount/perks Flexible scheduling The Human Resources Generalist will work closely with the Owner and General Manager and will have responsibilities for the human resources practices including, but not limited to tasks such as leading and managing recruitment, new employee on-boarding, policy and program management, benefits and compensation, worker's compensation, employee relations and any other areas related to employees. This professional will work closely with all staff to ensure a results-oriented, yet fun working environment at SBC Service Inc. & Applewood Nursery & Landscape Supply locations.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
Recruit, interview and facilitate hiring of qualified candidates. Establish and maintain relationships with educational institutions that have horticulture programs for future recruitment. Work with department supervisors and management to determine staffing needs in specific areas. Create & maintain staff schedule. Report weekly on status of all staff candidates in process. Assist the Owner/General Manager in managing benefits for the organization and communicate to the employees their options for new hire enrollment, open enrollment, and COBRA. Administer the compensation plan for the organization, including maintaining Salary Guidelines, ensuring compensation is fair and within guidelines for new hires and any necessary wage adjustments for current employees. Work closely with managers to administer the plan. Oversee and participate in the 30 day and annual/seasonal reviews of employees. Track reviews and attend each meeting with employee and their manager. Provide any feedback or input needed to manager prior to the meeting and to the employee during the meeting. Facilitate successful resolution of employee relations issues; conduct investigations and ensure proper documentation and response. Assist in management of document retention related to employee files and paperwork. Responsible for training and setting the tone for the employee experience. Prepare, deliver, and track training as needed. OSHA record keeping. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment law including, EEO, FLSA, COBRA, FMLA, and OSHA; recommend best practices. Continuously make suggestions/take actions to improve policies, processes, and procedures. Coordinate company events to promote a fun work environment. Answer phones and help customers as needed. Any other duties as required.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
•Bachelor's Degree or 3 or more years of Human Resources experience in a range of functional areas including recruitment, employee relations, consultation, on-boarding, talent management and internal communication is required. High level of emotional intelligence to allow for successfully supporting staff. •Strong knowledge of human resource policies including applicable local, state, and federal employment wage and benefit laws. Must be able to interpret complex documents and situations and formulate recommendations. Proficient in the use of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, QuickBooks; comfortable learning new technical systems as needed. Ability to effectively handle and prioritize multiple tasks, frequent interruptions, and detail with accuracy in a fast-paced work environment. Proven ability to work independently with sound judgement, show strong initiative and be results oriented. Advanced knowledge/experience in the nursery and landscape field is preferred.
