Job Description

Alliance Water Resources, a growing water and wastewater contract operations company, is seeking a full-time Human Resources Specialist for its headquarters office in Columbia, MO. This position supports the Human Resources department by assisting with a variety of HR functions, including recruitment, payroll, benefits, employee records, and related administrative tasks. The ideal candidate is organized, personable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with HRIS systems while handling confidential information in a professional manner. Schedule Monday- Friday 8am-4:30pm
Essential Functions:
Maintain, organize, file, and track employee personnel records in the company database. Assist with all aspects of the recruiting process, including updating job postings, responding to applicants, maintaining applicant information, and tracking open positions and job requisitions. Support new hire orientation and onboarding activities Track and follow up on pre-employment and post-accident drug and alcohol testing. Submit testing results to appropriate parties and respond to requests for information, including unemployment claims and employment verifications. Support the Payroll and Benefits Administrator with employee requests, payroll actions, and related administrative tasks. Serve as payroll backup when needed and assist with tracking workers' compensation claims, employee leaves, and benefit information. Design, generate, and update related reports using database applications. Handle general office needs, including ordering supplies, reviewing mail, managing invoices, and running errands as requested. Cross-train in related positions as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned. High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of three years of experience in payroll, benefits, human resources, or a related administrative office role. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. Working knowledge of human resources practices and applicable employment laws. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately. Ability to work under pressure, solve problems, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related platforms. Experience with Kronos and UKG systems preferred.
