HR Generalist - Payroll Focus Onsite | Chapel Hill, NC (Transitions to Timberlake, NC in Q4 2026) Full-Time | Exempt About the Role We're looking for an experienced HR Generalist with a strong payroll focus to join our Human Resources team. This role is responsible for accurate multi-state payroll processing while supporting key HR functions including benefits, employee relations, onboarding, and compliance. What You'll Do Process multi-state payroll for hourly and salaried employees Ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and timely processing Maintain payroll and employee data in HRIS/payroll systems Support benefits administration and open enrollment Assist with employee relations matters and HR investigations Support onboarding, offboarding, and recruiting coordination Ensure compliance with employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ACA, ADA, COBRA, EEO) Prepare payroll and HR reports for leadership What We're Looking For 5+ years of HR experience 4+ years of hands-on payroll administration Multi-state payroll experience required Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience) Strong knowledge of payroll laws and wage & hour regulations Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) Experience with Workday, ADP, or similar HRIS/payroll systems preferred Manufacturing or industrial environment experience a plus Preferred CPP, SHRM-CP, or PHR certification Payroll experience for 200+ employees Why Join Us Hands-on, impactful HR role Stable, growing organization Opportunity to support a transitioning HQ and evolving workforce Voltage Energy is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
