We are a well-established, fast-growing, multi-state restaurant franchise company headquartered in Albuquerque, NM. With 57 (and growing) restaurants and a workforce of over 950 team members, our corporate office is home to a team of highly capable and dependable professionals who manage administrative and accounting functions across our expanding footprint. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive HR Generalist to join our team and support our next phase of growth. This role is ideal for an early-career to mid-level HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about compliance, employee support, and operational excellence. Position Summary The HR Generalist plays a vital role in supporting a wide range of HR functions with a focus on payroll processing, onboarding, compliance, and employee data management. Working onsite at our Albuquerque headquarters and reporting directly to the HR Manager, this individual will work collaboratively with employees, leadership, and external vendors to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant HR operations across the organization. Responsibilities Manage onboarding processes, including new hire setup and system entry Ensure completion and compliance of I-9 documentation and retention Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records within the
HRIS/HCM
systems Manage unemployment, workers' compensation claims, garnishment processing and employment verifications Coordinate employee status changes including promotions, transfers, and terminations Support off-boarding processes, including documentation, final pay coordination, and compliance tracking Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations Maintain and audit I-9 records and other required employment documentation Support internal audits and ensure readiness for external audits and reporting requirements Help maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook Administer employee benefits programs including enrollments, changes, and terminations Serve as a point of contact for employee benefit inquiries and issue resolution Support open enrollment processes, communications, and reporting Coordinate with benefit providers and ensure accurate deductions and eligibility tracking Support payroll operations by ensuring accurate and timely employee data entry and updates Review and validate timekeeping and employee data prior to payroll processing Partner with the Payroll Specialist to resolve discrepancies and ensure compliance Assist with payroll-related reporting, audits, and year-end activities (W-2s, 1095C's, ACA reporting, etc.) Maintain integrity and accuracy of
HRIS/HCM
data and reporting Generate HR and compliance-related reports for leadership and audits Identify opportunities for process improvement and support implementation of efficiencies Assist with system updates, implementations, and data audits Respond to employee HR inquiries with professionalism, discretion, and urgency Support HR leadership in employee relations matters and documentation Build strong working relationships across departments to support operational needs Flexibly support additional tasks and evolving responsibilities that contribute to the success of the department and overall company growth. Required Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field Minimum of 2 years of experience in human resources, with prior payroll processing experience Strong proficiency with Google Workplace and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive data professionally Familiarity with employment law and compliance standards (EEO, I-9, benefits) Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills Strong math aptitude and accuracy in payroll calculations Experience with Alliance HCM or similar HCM/payroll systems High School diploma or equivalent (required) Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred Qualifications Experience in multi-location or multi-state workforce environments HR Certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) a plus Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus Key Competencies Strong attention to detail and accuracy Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify and resolve issues Ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines Professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive information Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment Adaptability in a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization Benefits Health Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Vacation, Sick Leave, and Holiday Work Environment This is a 100% onsite role based in our Albuquerque, NM headquarters.
