Accounting & HR Specialist Location Mount Kisco, NY 10549 Date Posted June 02, 2026 Job ID 14703 Employment Type Direct Hire Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an Accounting & HR Specialist for a mission-driven nonprofit organization supporting children, families, and educational programming. This is a fully onsite opportunity based in Mount Kisco, New York.
POSITION OVERVIEW
This dynamic role blends accounting, payroll, and HR administration responsibilities within a collaborative nonprofit environment. The Accounting & HR Specialist will support day-to-day financial operations, payroll processing, benefits administration, reconciliations, and month-end close while serving as a key operational partner to leadership. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and proactive professional who enjoys improving processes, supporting teams, and making an immediate impact within a growing organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage day-to-day accounting operations including AP/AR, reconciliations, payroll support, and month-end close Prepare financial reports, maintain accurate records, and support audit preparation activities Process payroll and assist with benefits administration, employee support, and HR-related functions Support tuition billing, collections, grants/subsidy reimbursement tracking, and financial data entry Maintain and update accounting records within QuickBooks Desktop and related systems Collaborate with leadership to identify process improvements and support operational efficiency
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong experience using QuickBooks Desktop in a professional accounting environment Proficiency with Microsoft Excel including Pivot Tables and data management functions Experience supporting payroll, HR administration, employee benefits, and financial operations Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail Excellent communication skills with a collaborative, proactive, and professional approach
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This full-time, exempt opportunity offers a salary range of $65,000-$70,000, along with a strong benefits package and free daily lunch. The organization offers a supportive and team-oriented culture with the opportunity to contribute meaningfully across accounting and HR operations.
