Job Description
HR Generalist (Part-Time) Our client is seeking a resourceful and self-directed HR Generalist (Part-Time) to support payroll administration and help strengthen core HR practices within a small, multi-state organization. The ideal candidate brings hands-on payroll and job-costing experience, understands the priorities of supporting a smaller workforce, and can independently identify practical HR solutions while effectively leveraging external resources and partners. This role is on-site in Tigard, Oregon working around 12 to 20 hours per week. HR Generalist Responsibilities Coordinate payroll preparation by reviewing employee timecards, validating hours, and ensuring labor is accurately coded to the appropriate jobs and cost centers. Support weekly and biweekly payroll cycles, including reviewing payroll inputs, resolving discrepancies, maintaining required approvals and backup documentation, and reconciling completed payroll results. Run payroll processes across Viewpoint Spectrum and ADP, including parallel processing, reconciliation, record retrieval, and verification of payroll information between systems. Maintain accurate employee, payroll, compensation, benefits, timekeeping, and job-costing records and prepare payroll, labor, and HR reports as needed. Assess HR needs and help prioritize and establish practical HR processes, policies, and best practices appropriate for a small organization operating across multiple states. Serve as a knowledgeable HR resource for employees and managers, addressing questions related to payroll, benefits, timekeeping, policies, and general HR matters. Coordinate with external payroll providers, benefits partners, legal counsel, and other professional resources to research and resolve HR and payroll matters. Support benefits administration, including eligibility tracking, enrollments, qualifying changes, employee questions, and benefit invoice review. Facilitate employee onboarding and offboarding while maintaining accurate, organized, and confidential personnel documentation. Support employment compliance, recruiting, compensation research, performance management, job descriptions, and other employee lifecycle activities based on organizational needs. HR Generalist Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of experience in human resources, payroll administration, or a closely related role. Hands-on job-costing experience, including coding or reviewing employee labor hours against appropriate jobs, projects, departments, or cost centers. Experience supporting payroll processes, including timecard review, payroll data preparation, reconciliation, documentation, and coordination with internal or external payroll resources. Experience working within or supporting a smaller-company environment, with an understanding of how HR priorities and practices may differ from those of a large organization. Ability to independently assess HR needs, establish priorities, research solutions, and move initiatives forward with limited day-to-day direction. Experience with HRIS, payroll, timekeeping, ERP, or job-costing systems; experience with Viewpoint Spectrum and/or ADP is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of employment practices, wage-and-hour requirements, employee records, benefits administration, and general HR compliance principles. Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy, with the ability to identify payroll or timekeeping discrepancies and consistently meet processing deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the judgment and professionalism required to handle confidential employee information. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, and strong electronic recordkeeping and organizational skills. High school diploma or equivalent required; a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Management, Business, or a related field is preferred. Candidates currently pursuing a related degree may also be considered.
Compensation:
$30-$35/hr. (DOE) Benefits Benefits include a SEP retirement plan after the first full year of employment, with potential profit sharing. Paid time off.
