Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced HR Classification & Compensation Consultant for a contract opportunity in Cayce, SC. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented human resources professional with strong classification, compensation, recruitment, policy interpretation, and HRIS experience. The Classification & Compensation Consultant will support a public sector HR team by ensuring positions are properly classified, compensation practices are equitable, and documentation remains accurate and compliant with statewide policies and regulations. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys analytical HR work, customer service, process consistency, and meaningful public sector support. This position offers a stable Monday through Friday schedule, a collaborative HR environment, and the opportunity for long-term contract work with potential pathways to permanent employment. Candidates who thrive in structured environments, value accuracy, and enjoy partnering with leaders and employees will be well aligned with this role. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct job analyses to evaluate position duties, organizational structure, and classification alignment.
  • Review, approve, update, and maintain accurate job descriptions and classification documentation.
  • Analyze internal and statewide salary data to support equitable and compliant compensation decisions.
  • Provide recommendations for salary actions, pay equity reviews, and compression concerns within state guidelines.
  • Apply statewide classification and compensation policies consistently while maintaining audit-ready records.
  • Support classification and compensation reviews, audits, appeals, and related HR compliance activities. Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay:
    $27.00 to $29.00 per hour, up to $29.07 per hour depending on experience.
  • Schedule:
    Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Hours:
    37.5 hours per week.
  • Location:
    Cayce, SC.
  • Job type: Contract/temporary.
