Job Description
General Description The Recruiter is responsible for assisting the department with reaching enrollment goals by supporting all student recruitment initiatives including but not limited to: college fairs, high school recruiting, college visit days, and adult learner recruitment. This key position represents the college internally and externally to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors and other individuals or organizations, and assists prospective applicants on the admission process and opportunities at UCNJ Union College of Union County, NJ. Under the direction of the, Director of Enrollment Management, the Recruiter will assist in the College's New Student Orientation program. Must be able to work evenings and weekends. Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities Represents UCNJ Union College of Union County, NJ at high schools, middle schools, youth organizations and community agencies throughout Union County and neighboring counties where students, parents, alumni, guidance counselors, and other constituents of the college gather in formal or informal groups. Under the direction of the Director, executes an overall enrollment recruitment strategy towards team and individual goals in order to meet enrollment goals for the College. Provides information to prospects, applicants and students via telephone, email, website, walk-in visits and other strategies. Under the direction of the Director, assist in developing and implementing district-wide, campus based, and program specific marketing and recruitment strategies. Assists with the development of enrollment marketing publications and communications in collaboration with the Communications department. Assists in the distribution of recruitment information and materials. Track statistics, gather data, and write reports. Provides outreach to area high school teachers, administrators, counselors as well as students and their families to promote UCNJ Union College of Union County, NJ. Develops and maintains contacts with high schools and business/community leaders to provide admissions and information services and to recruit students from these areas. Coordinates outreach efforts with the Offices of Admissions/Registrar, Financial Aid, EOF and others. Provides prospective students with general financial aid, career and college admissions information. Provides individualized and group information and counseling to prospective students and parents regarding the college enrollment process. Assists in organizing and conducting on- and off- campus programs designed to promote community awareness of the College's programs, services and mission. Performs follow-up activities on student inquiries, contacts, and interviews via the College's CRM system or other communication outlets. Maintains literature racks, on and off campus. Responds to all inquiries regarding UCNJ Union College of Union County, NJ programs. Prepares reports on recruitment activities using MS-Access, MS-Excel and other software applications. Other related duties as assigned. Education Requirements Bachelor's Degree required. Experience Student Recruitment Experience preferred. Competencies and Skills Required Excellent Customer Service skills. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, internet and email. Experience with integrated information systems, Microsoft Excel and MS Access is preferable. Excellent written and verbal communications skills; ability to deal with the public. Able to prioritize time and activities, show initiative, and handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision. Bilingual skills preferred. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Must be able to work evenings, weekends and flexible schedules as needed. Must have ability to communicate effectively with a diverse student body. Must be able to prepare and give effective individual and group presentations. Must be able to operate standard office automation and software applications. Ability to work as an effective member of the Enrollment Management team. Must demonstrate a commitment to the ideals of a community college. Curiosity Quick Study Physical Demands and Work Environment This position's duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled. Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. No or very limited exposure to physical risk. Some travel required.
