Job Description
The Field Recruiter is a territory-based role responsible for executing recruitment strategies that grow the pipeline of prospective students for SGU's School of Medicine (SOM) and School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM). Reporting to the Executive Director of Recruitment, this individual will serve as a frontline representative of SGU within an assigned territory, with Ontario as the primary focus, building relationships with prospective students, pre-med and pre-vet advisors, and institutional partners. This is a high-activity, relationship-driven role for someone who is passionate about helping future physicians and veterinarians take the next step in their careers. What You'll Do Territory Recruitment & Event Execution Represent SGU SOM and SVM at school fairs, pre-med/pre-vet events, club meetings, hosted SGU events including Information Sessions (in-person and virtual) and other event types within the assigned territory Travel extensively throughout the assigned region (approximately 60-70%) to attend recruitment events and meet with advisors and students Build and maintain positive relationships with pre-med and pre-vet advisors, faculty, and student organizations at colleges and universities in the territory Set up, staff, and break down event materials including displays and signage Prospective Student Engagement Conduct advising conversations with prospective students (and families where appropriate) to guide informed decision-making and support forward progress in the admissions process Maintain consistent, high-touch communication with prospects via phone, email, text, and social media throughout the recruitment cycle Deliver engaging presentations on SGU's programs, outcomes, and student experience to audiences of varying sizes Support yield efforts by following up with applicants and nurturing relationships through enrollment CRM & Admissions Process Support Log all recruitment activities, contacts, and pipeline updates in the CRM system (Salesforce) in a timely and accurate manner Capture and communicate key student insights to Admissions Team to ensure seamless handoffs between stages Stay current on SGU's admissions requirements, program offerings, scholarship options, and postgraduate pathways Respond promptly to inquiries from prospective students, families, and advisors Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree required 1-2 years of experience in admissions, recruitment, customer service, sales, advising, or a related field (internships and relevant pre-graduation experience considered) Strong interpersonal skills and comfort engaging with diverse student populations, families, and institutional partners Effective public speaking and presentation skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including digital communication via email and text Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively, including evenings and weekends Preferred Fluency in French is considered a strong asset Experience in higher education, medical, or veterinary school admissions or recruitment Familiarity with CRM systems such as Slate or Salesforce Knowledge of pre-health or pre-vet advising communities, pathways, and professional organizations Experience working with or presenting to science-focused student populations Skills & Attributes for Success High energy and enthusiasm for helping students achieve their goals Authentic relationship builder; is able to earn trust quickly with students, advisors, and partners Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a home-office and field-based environment Positive, professional, and persistent, especially during high-volume recruitment cycles Team player who communicates proactively and collaborates across departments Genuine passion for the mission of SGU and the students it serves Work Environment & Additional Details Home-office based with extensive field travel within the assigned territory Ontario is the primary territory; additional regions may be assigned as needed Flexibility required for evening and weekend events during peak recruitment periods Must be able to transport, set up, and break down event collateral including signage and displays
