Description We are looking for a dedicated Dispatcher to join our team in St. Cloud, Minnesota. In this long-term contract position, you will play a key role in coordinating logistics, managing shipments, and ensuring timely communication with drivers and customers. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a family-owned trucking company that has grown significantly over the years. This position is hybrid with training in office and remote after that.
Responsibilities:
Assign loads to drivers by evaluating factors such as hours of service, equipment availability, location, and skill level.
Monitor and manage shipments from pickup to delivery, ensuring schedules are met.
Maintain consistent communication with drivers to provide updates, resolve issues, and ensure smooth operations.
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers, understanding their freight needs and service expectations.
Plan and optimize routes for various types of trucking equipment, including flatbed and step-deck trailers.
Coordinate permits, escorts, pilot cars, and route surveys for oversize or overweight shipments.
Evaluate and adjust routing as necessary to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Match freight to appropriate trailers based on load requirements and operational constraints.
Provide accurate freight quotes and rates by analyzing market trends and operational costs.
Ensure that all shipment documentation is complete, accurate, and properly filed. Requirements
2-5 years of dispatch experience in flatbed, open-deck, or heavy-haul trucking.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and customer service skills to effectively interact with drivers and clients.
Proficiency in computer-aided dispatch systems and logistics coordination tools.
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt to changing situations and resolve issues quickly.
Self-motivated and capable of working independently while maintaining a team-oriented approach.
Familiarity with freight patterns, market conditions, and operational costs in the trucking industry.
High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in documentation and routing.
