The selected individual must be able to work in a fast-paced, multi-functional environment and be passionate working with diverse student populations. The teammate must be willing to work flexible hours, including evening and weekends. The Outreach Services Specialist will assist in the development and implementation of student recruitment and outreach designed to meet enrollment goals in targeted geographic areas and specific student populations. The position is responsible for programmatic and individual recruitment activities. This position supports the College's mission by increasing student success and educational access through intentional efforts to assist new students in navigating the entry process. Functioning as part of the larger TCC Student Affairs team, this position serves as a liaison and resource for numerous TCC constituents. The Outreach Services Specialist reports directly to Director of Entry Services. Essential Functions Prospective Student Recruitment Provide unwavering support to prospective students from diverse backgrounds, ensuring equitable opportunities for success, and fulfilling the mission of fostering equity and success for all at the college. Collaborate with local educational programs:
College Success Foundation, Metropolitan Development Council (MDC), TRiO programs, and other key community partners. Provide detailed information related to dual-enrollment, educational programs, academic support services, and the admissions and enrollment processes. Assess and promptly respond to the needs and concerns of prospective students and guardians, via email, web chat, social media, phone and in person. Communicate both orally and in written form with prospects and stakeholders about TCC's admission requirements, program offerings, basic financial aid requirements and scholarship opportunities. Attend career and college fairs, family nights, and community events themed around post-secondary enrollment. Provide individual and group admissions support to guide prospective students through the process of becoming a student at TCC. Support prospective, new and returning students in the Welcome Center Collaborate with TCC Faculty to develop mutually beneficial pipelines between TCC programs and K-12 institutions. Work with the Marketing department at TCC to develop strategic and effective recruitment messages, flyers, and social media initiatives. Data & Process Management Work towards increasing admissions applications, student enrollments, and achieving outreach goals set by the Director of Entry Services. Proactively organize, implement and track recruitment activities and events. Provide reports pertaining to outreach and recruitment activities. Program Coordination Organize and facilitate on-campus visits for K-12 students. Develop, schedule, and facilitate off-site workshops, events and services at community organizations, as well as schools, covering a range of topics including admissions, financial literacy, scholarships, financial aid, and the benefits of attending a community college. Assist in the marketing and promotion of TCC and its programs. Leadership Supervise Outreach & Recruitment Office work-study employee(s) Professionally represent TCC to its constituents. Organize and facilitate the annual PNACAC Regional College Fair, Counselor Breakfast, Future Titan events, open house programs, and other events geared towardpost-secondary enrollment for graduating seniors. Participate in appropriate on-campus committees and task forces related to outreach and recruiting activities. Coordinate with Gig Harbor campus staff on outreach-oriented events and activities. PAID LEAVE
Classified staff, Administrators, and Professional staff are eligible for paid vacation, sick leave, and personal leave, along with paid federal holidays. Classified Monthly vacation entitlement amounts can vary from 11.33 to 16.67 hours per month depending on the length of state service. Administrator/Exempt Professional vacation leave is 16.00 hours per month. Monthly sick leave entitlement is 8.00 hours per month based on 100% FTE position and will be prorated accordingly if less than 100% FTE. Annual personal leave entitlement varies depending on employee type. Full-time classified, administrators, and professional staff are paid for all federal holidays. Full-time faculty receive 84.00 hours of paid sick leave per academic year along with 28.00 hours of personal leave. Full-time faculty are paid on an annual contract and do not receive pay for federal holidays. Part-time faculty receive sick leave each quarter using a formula based on the total FTE% from the cumulative teaching contracts issued to them that quarter. They would receive 7.00 hours of personal leave if they are issued a multi-quarter appointment at the start of the academic year. Part-time faculty do not receive pay for federal holidays. Part-time hourly and student employees receive 1 hour of sick leave for every 40 hours worked in a month (and fractions, thereof). Up to 40 hours of sick leave can carry over from one calendar year to the next. If a part-time hourly or student employee is hired into a full-time position, the sick leave hours earned in the part-time position do not carry over to the full-time position. Part-time hourly and student employees are not paid for federal holidays. Monthly entitlements are given at the beginning of the following month. All employees in salaried positions may take up to five days of paid bereavement time off for the death of a family member. This is separate from the sick leave or vacation leave.
RETIREMENT
Retirement participation is mandatory for retirement benefit eligible TCC employees. Employees are offered a choice between two retirement plans and that choice is generally irrevocable while employed at TCC. Classified Employees and (retirement eligible) Part-Time hourly: Classified employees and eligible part-time hourly employees must choose between the Public Employees Retirement Systems (PERS) Plan 2 or Plan 3.
