Position Summary The Vice President and Chief Academic Officer exercises significant independent judgment and leadership in advancing academic excellence, supporting community engagement, fostering economic development, ensuring operational effectiveness, and strengthening external partnerships that enhance the College's impact and sustainability. Appropriate placement on the Alabama Community College System salary schedule B+10% . Essential Duties and Responsibilities At a minimum, the essential functions of this position shall include: Academic Leadership Provides direct supervision to the Deans of Academic Instruction, Nursing and Allied Health, and Career and Technical Instruction. Promotes collaboration across academic divisions to ensure programs meet current and emerging educational, workforce, and community needs. Oversees dual enrollment, libraries, museums, and academic support services to ensure consistent and effective services across traditional, blended, and online learning environments. Northern Campus Leadership Works in collaboration with the Vice President to ensure northern campuses (Gilbertown, Thomasville, Monroeville, Brewton, and Atmore) build and maintain strong relationships with local communities, government agencies, business and industry partners, and educational organizations. Collaborates with community stakeholders to develop, assess, and improve instructional programs that address workforce and economic development needs. Support initiatives that strengthen academic preparation and contribute to regional economic growth. Philanthropy and External Relations Partners with the Foundation to identify, cultivate, and engage potential donors. Support efforts to expand philanthropic investment and resources that advance the College's mission. Provides responsible, appropriate, and satisfactory leadership on campus and within the College. Communicates positively and professionally in all aspects of the position. Attends all employee meetings, College meetings, and professional development activities. Becomes thoroughly familiar with all pertinent state and national policies and comply with said policies. Serves on and provides information to college committees as needed. Complies with ACCS and College policies, as well as state and federal laws. Ensures the positive promotion of the College and integration of all campuses within the College. Is prompt and punctual in reporting for work, meetings, and office hours. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Qualifications Doctorate in education, leadership, administration, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution. Experience in educational leadership and administration at a two-year college. Administrative competencies in fiscal management, budget development and coordination, personnel supervision and evaluation, and/or strategic planning. Experience in managing continuous compliance with state licensing/regulatory agencies, specialty accreditation, and/or institutional accreditation, e.g., Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Documented evidence of active engagement in professional, academic, and/or community activities. Demonstrated ability to analyze data to inform decisions. Ability to work well with diverse populations. Effective interpersonal, communication, public speaking, and problem-solving skills. Adept in conflict resolution, team building, and promotion of strong, collaborative interpersonal relationships. Understanding of and commitment to the needs of students, community college mission, diversity, collegiality, and lifelong learning. Effective planning, organization, multitasking, and evaluation skills. Ability to perform tasks requiring sound judgment and decision-making. Application Procedures/Additional Information
