Purpose of the Position Build and lead a team of People Champions, who are responsible for training and retaining team members who can do their work safely and successfully. Provide leadership, coaching and development for People Champions. Drive continuous improvement into the training and qualification process within operations. Execute to get results for the business, instill process discipline to ensure sustainability, and use data to measure and communicate impact. Essential Position Responsibilities - This is a Salary Exempt position. Manages Training Within Industry (TWI): Manages the TWI methodology to ensure all new employees are fully trained for their positions; works through People Champions to deliver consistent and effective TWI programs. Ensures that qualification process is implemented within all facilities and takes place before the team member is permanently placed in position. Serves as an Internal Consultant withLearning & Development:
Collaborates with internal customers to identify training needs. Consults and works with subject matter experts (SME's) and cross-department representatives to implement innovation solutions with training programs and curriculum.Develops and Deploys Training Programs:
Creates and designs new and refresher training programs and curriculum that get results. Develops and deploys OJT (on the job) training. Determines appropriate methodology. Ensures training meets and exceeds organization expectations utilizing adult learning principles. Uses all available tools necessary in the execution of training; partners with Learning & Development team for assistance as necessary.Manages Training Processes and Programs:
Reviews training programs for quality, accuracy and alignment across the business. Advises on the impact of a change or improvement to new or current programs and curriculum. Assists new hires with training plans, tasks and shadowing. Measures training impact through data andKPIs:
Utilizes data visualization tools to measure and tell the story of program impact through data. Ensures process discipline to consistently capture accurate data.Conducts Needs Assessments and Measures Effectiveness of Training:
Conducts ongoing needs assessments to ensure that training needs are aligned with strategic objectives of the company and that training needs are prioritized appropriately. Ability to measure and communicate effectiveness of training programs and serve as a voice for the People Champion Initiative. Possesses deep background and proven track record in team member training. Manages the Team. Directs and supervises team members' work activities and coaches performance and behavior. Collaborates with HR to screen, interview and hire candidates. Administers disciplinary actions and recommends performance improvement actions in collaboration with the HR Manager. Follows Simmons Values to develop and maintain a favorable working relationship with all team members and plant leaders. Promotes a collaborative environment that builds positive team member morale, productivity, and continuous improvement. Participates as a member of the Team. Participates in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. Builds strong relationships across the business. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas of concern, working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and solve problems. Enters and locates information on a computer. Visually verifies information, often in small print. Communicates with Customers, Vendors, or Team Members via phone, in person, and/or electronic mail. Presents information to small and large groups. Must be able to work in various temperatures and move about in a manufacturing environment and surrounding property. May travel via car or plane to various work locations. Set up and move equipment and materials required for training. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): As required by visiting facility.Travel:
Approximately 25% travel. Travels domestically to and from multiple facilities or work-sites, possibly requiring overnight stays.Technical Experience:
5 years experience in Training and Development OR 5 years experience managing people in a manufacturing environment to include extensive training responsibilities. Must have excellent skills in written and verbal communication; engaging and training adult learners; presenting in front of small and large groups; and influencing without direct authority. Demonstrated ability to set the tone for successful training experiences and to enable others to connect ideas to actions. Must be able to deliver effective training within the constraints of a production environment and schedules. Multi-site manufacturing experience is a plus. Training within Industry (TWI) experience is strongly preferred.Industry Experience:
Preference for food manufacturing industries.Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Psychology, Organizational Development, Human Behavior, Education, Industrial Manufacturing or related field, or 4 years related work experience.Preferred Education:
