On-site in Tampa / 1-2x per week remote
What You'll Do:
The Director of Learning & Development plays a pivotal role in shaping the employee experience by creating pathways for team members to grow, thrive, and contribute to a high‑performing, mission‑driven organization. This role is responsible for designing and implementing development programs, tools, and processes that enhance organizational effectiveness. The Director assesses organization‑wide development needs, drives training initiatives, and identifies or creates solutions that strengthen employee capabilities, remove barriers, and elevate performance.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Partner with leadership to cultivate a learning‑focused culture through an annual strategic planning cycle. Provide internal coaching to leadership teams to support their growth and effectiveness. Collaborate with external coaching partners when needed to expand leadership development capacity. Prepare leaders and employees to navigate and manage organizational change. Oversee and continuously improve nomination‑based leadership programs, including the development of enhanced processes to prepare future leaders. Conduct annual assessments of training and development needs. Design and deliver comprehensive training programs that support workforce growth and organizational performance. Develop training materials, including presentations, guides, and digital learning content. Manage departmental budget and monitor spending. Plan, organize, and facilitate employee development and training events, including coordinating necessary materials and logistics. Develop and maintain internal communications to promote training opportunities and resources. Track and record development activities within the learning management system (LMS). Stay current on industry trends and best practices to ensure leadership programs remain innovative and effective. Exemplify the organization's culture and values in all interactions.
What We're Looking For Must-Haves:
Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in a relevant field 3-5 years of experience designing and implementing employee development programs. Strong ability to collaborate with and influence senior leadership. Proven ability to manage multiple projects, allocate resources effectively, and meet deadlines. Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design principles. Demonstrated proficiency with digital learning technologies and facilitation. Ability to educate and engage diverse audiences across all organizational levels. Experience with leadership selection, succession planning, and leadership development. Strong commitment to confidentiality and professional integrity. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Skill in evaluating and researching training options and alternatives.
