Primary Function:
The Program Director is responsible for the overall management, implementation, and evaluation of afterschool and summer programs at the Jerome 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) sites. This role ensures a safe, outcome-driven, and engaging environment for youth while overseeing daily Club operations, strategic planning, grant compliance, and staff development. The Program Director also builds and strengthens relationships with parents, community partners, and school district, and supports the mission of providing a world-class Club experience. Key Roles & Responsibilities Leadership & Program Oversight Direct daily operations of the Jerome 21st CCLC afterschool and summer program sites. Design, implement, and evaluate academic and enrichment programs aligned with youth development goals and grant guidelines. Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment that encourages youth participation and development. Create and foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Maintain high standards of discipline, guidance, and communication with youth and their families. Strategic Planning & Compliance Develop and implement annual operating plans and long-term strategic goals for the Jerome Unit and 21st CCLC initiatives. Monitor and ensure program compliance with all local, state, and federal grant requirements, particularly 21st CCLC guidelines. Collect, track, and report program data (enrollment, attendance, performance metrics) to meet grant obligations. Facilitate Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and National Youth Outcomes Initiatives (NYOI). Resource & Financial Management Develop, manage, and track budgets for Club operations and 21st CCLC programming. Monitor expenditures to ensure alignment with grant qualifications and financial policies. Approve and oversee procurement of supplies and equipment. Ensure safe and functional facilities, equipment, and transportation logistics across sites. Staff Supervision & Development Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate all Jerome 21st CCLC site staff. Conduct regular staff meetings and ensure staff are trained in Club policies, youth development, and safety procedures. Provide ongoing professional development and coaching for staff and volunteers. Maintain adequate staff scheduling and ensure managerial coverage during program hours. Partnerships, Marketing & Public Relations Establish and maintain strong relationships with school administrators, teachers, and community leaders. Plan and lead outreach efforts to recruit and retain Club members. Work with the marketing team to promote Club events, successes, and enrollment through multiple communication platforms. Serve as the main liaison with the State Department of Education regarding 21st CCLC programs. Operations & Additional Duties Manage Club cleanliness, organization, signage, and presentation. Conduct regular safety drills (fire, lockdown, evacuation) and maintain required logs. Support or lead Club-wide special events and family engagement activities. Provide transportation of youth as needed. Support Club-wide initiatives as directed by senior leadership. Attend annual in-person 21st CCLC Director Training with Idaho Department of Education and any other applicable training or professional development
Relationships Internal:
Maintain daily contact with Club staff and leadership to interpret goals, align programs with mission, and address concerns.
External:
Maintain open, professional communication with parents, school staff, partners, and community leaders to promote youth success and Club visibility. Qualifications & Skills Four-year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience. Minimum 2 years of experience in youth development, education, or nonprofit leadership. Demonstrated skills in program planning, staff supervision, and facilities management. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Proficiency in budget development and grant compliance. Knowledge of child development and group dynamics. CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain). Must be at least 23 years of age. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light to moderate lifting.
