Under the direction of the Chief of Equity and Organizational Development, the Director II of Leadership Development provides systemwide leadership for the design, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of MCPS?s comprehensive districtwide leadership development system. In this role, the Director II works in close collaboration with the Director of Professional Learning, Consulting Principals, executive leadership, and directors across all divisions to ensure leadership development is coherent, aligned, and integrated with district priorities, including the MCPS Strategic Plan, administrator evaluation and professional growth systems, Anti-Racist Audit implementation, and the district?s broader equity commitments and programming?ensuring leadership practice consistently advances equitable access, belonging, and outcomes for all students, alongside organizational development and systemwide improvement work. This position ensures coherent, high-quality leadership development for MCAAP members?school-based and central services administrators, including business and operations? while collaborating with the Department of Professional Learning (which leads leadership development for MCEA and SEIU staff) to align leadership pathways and strengthen the pipeline for aspiring leaders transitioning into administrative roles across MCPS. Using a continuous improvement framework, the Director II ensures leadership development programming is data-informed, equity-centered, and responsive to district needs, with a focus on strengthening leadership readiness, effectiveness, and retention. The position identifies and addresses gaps in leadership development, supports pathways for underrepresented groups, and ensures measurable improvements in leadership capacity across the system. The Director II supervises the Coordinator of Leadership Development and oversees the alignment of current and future leadership development venues and opportunities. The position leads and facilitates cross-functional design and implementation workgroups to develop and continuously refine research-based leadership development programming that strengthens the district?s leadership pipeline by building capacity for aspiring leaders, while collaborating and coordinating with Consulting Principals on the continued development of current principals and system leaders. This work is guided by district leadership standards and rubrics and reflects the ways leadership intersects across roles and contexts within MCPS. The Director II also co-leads and supports the development and implementation of central office leadership development programming in collaboration with the Director of Professional Learning to ensure coherence, alignment, and organizational impact.Physical Demands:

Availability to occasionally work weekends and evenings. This is a four-year rotating position. Upon completion of the term, the Director will be eligible to be placed in a comparable Administrative and Supervisory (A&S) position aligned to their prior role. EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
;CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Masters degree from an accredited college or university and eligibility for Maryland certification in administration and supervision required; doctorate preferred. Minimum of five years of successful administrative experience (MCPS experience preferred). Demonstrated experience developing leaders through coaching, professional learning, or leadership pipeline programs, as well as leading leadership development programming, managing partnerships and vendors, and exercising fiscal responsibility. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.Certification/License:
Meets Maryland state certification requirements for administrator licensure, holding licensure in Administrator I and Administrator II; OR holding licensure or eligible for licensure in Supervisor of Instruction, Assistant Principal, Principal. Observing and Analyzing Teaching (OAT) 1 must be completed within the first year.Job:
