Job Description

Velocity Health Group - Marshfield, Missouri Who We Are Velocity Health Group (VHG) is building a new model for adolescent behavioral health treatment. Our residential program is designed around a simple belief: the quality of care youth receive is directly tied to the quality of the people who serve them. We are assembling a team of highly capable professionals who want more than just a job—they want to grow, lead, and make a meaningful impact. Our Vision To set a new national standard in behavioral healthcare through innovative treatment, exceptional training, and a culture of trust—anchored by the first behavioral health teaching hospital of its kind. The Role As Academic Director, you will design and lead a modern educational experience tailored to students in a therapeutic environment. You will co-create and operate VHG's Education Department, blending leadership with hands-on teaching. This is a leadership role designed for someone who still loves teaching.
You will:
Teach students directly in a highly individualized setting Build meaningful relationships that support both academic and personal growth Help design a flexible, modern learning environment Lead and mentor a small team of educators Shape how education works inside a therapeutic setting You won't be buried in bureaucracy—you'll be in the work that matters . Who We Are Looking For An experienced educator (7+ years preferred) who knows the classroom—and its challenges Missouri DESE Secondary Certification (required) Administrator Certification (preferred, not required) SPED Certification (a plus) Someone who is: Student-first in everything they do Adaptable and creative in their teaching approach Comfortable outside a traditional classroom structure Ready to lead while still teaching Key Responsibilities Youth Development Support each youth in meeting treatment goals, developing life skills, and building healthy habits. Mentorship & Accountability Model professionalism, emotional regulation, and personal responsibility while helping youth build these same qualities. Collaboration Work closely with clinical staff and program leadership to ensure coordinated care and consistent expectations. Program Performance Track and support progress toward program benchmarks, including Early Indicators of Success (EIOS) metrics.
