Job Description
Position Overview :
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Training & Development Manager to build, implement, and manage training programs for employees in our composite manufacturing facility. This position will work closely with Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, R&D Engineering, and Production teams to ensure employees receive the necessary training to maintain high-quality standards, comply with safety regulations, and improve manufacturing efficiency. This role is crucial in onboarding new employees, maintaining compliance with industry standards, and supporting continuous learning initiatives.Key Responsibilities :
Lead and manage the Training and Development department, including building, mentoring, and scaling the training team to support company growth and production demands. Conduct interviews, onboarding, performance evaluations, corrective actions, and ongoing development planning for training staff. Develop, implement, and continuously improve structured training programs for new hires and on-going employee development. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and R&D to ensure training materials align with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process changes, and new technology implementations. Develop and manage the Learning Management System (LMS) to track employee progress and certifications. Schedule and facilitate training sessions with subject matter experts (SMEs) across departments. Develop and implement a part difficulty tier system to assess technician skill levels, establish clear promotion criteria, and guide targeted training programs for skill development. Develop e-learning modules, training guides, and instructional videos to supplement in-person training. Ensure company-wide compliance with safety, regulatory, and job-specific training requirements, maintaining auditable records to support AS9100, CUI/ITAR, and customer requirements. Partner with the Quality department to analyze defect trends, NCRs, and non-conformances, using data to proactively identify skill gaps and prioritize retraining and corrective action. Assess training effectiveness through feedback and competency assessments. Define, track, and report department metrics and KPIs, such as time to build effective courses, training completion rates, LMS adoption, rework reduction, and training-related NCR trends, providing regular updates to leadership. Work with the Quality department to analyze trends in defects and non-conformances, using data to inform training priorities. Develop and manage the training department budget and resource planning, ensuring efficient use of tools, technology, and personnel while supporting long-term organizational objectives. What You Will Bring to theTeam :
Bachelor's degree with 5-8 years of experience in training and development. Demonstrated experience building, leading, and developing training teams, including interviewing, onboarding, coaching, performance evaluations, and career development planning. Proficient implementing and using learning management software. Proficient in using a variety of content development tools such as Articulate 360, Camtasia, and Adobe. Proficient or willingness to learn video creation and editing. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with technicians, middle management and leadership. Skilled in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and project management. Strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to work under pressure and adapt to challenges. A positive, "can-do" attitude with a commitment to collaboration and continuous improvement.
