In 1957, the County of Westchester bought the 360-acre John Hartford estate in Valhalla and designated 218 acres for the community college. Job Description:
Reporting to the President of Westchester Community College, the Vice President of Workforce Development and Community Education provides dynamic leadership in the development and implementation of programs, initiatives, and activities that serve the educational and training needs of diverse Westchester County constituencies, including individuals across the life span, businesses, public agencies, not-for-profits, and unions in collaboration with the College community. The incumbent is a member of the President's Cabinet, collaborating to drive the implementation of the college's strategic vision and priorities.
The Vice President of Workforce Development and Community Education:
Leads, directs and evaluates teams within the division as they execute a range of programs within six mission centric areas: Workforce Training and Development and Financial Wellness The English Language Institute Community Education (Personal enrichment and lifelong learning) Extension locations The Virginia Marx Children's Center The Welcome Center Advances the initiatives and programs of the Division of Workforce Development and Community Education and promotes their integration into the college; is accountable for achievement of the College's goals and objectives within the scope of Workforce Development and Community Education; and convenes and facilitates groups to achieve the College's mission and goals. Establishes communication and partnerships with external stakeholders to advance priorities for workforce education, career readiness and economic mobility of learners. Liaises with business, industry, public agencies, and community interest groups. Effectively partners with other workforce and economic development providers including workforce boards, municipalities, and state, regional and national economic development organizations. Stewards the fiscal operations of the Division, including the Division's operating and self-sustaining budgets, and the Division's participation in federal, state, local and private funding opportunities that benefit the College and provide support for targeted programs and students. Oversees the administration of the college's extension locations that deliver both credit and noncredit training. Collaborates with the Vice President of Academic Affairs and other vice presidents to ensure that extension locations fulfill their mission to expand access and meet needs of all county residents. Works directly with WCC Foundation colleagues on the submission of grant proposals and subsequent reporting and funder communication Advances and advocates for the Division's activities and programs in appropriate internal governance structures and leadership bodies and with external entities, works in collaboration with all members of the College community, serves as requested on college shared governance structures and committees, and works with senior leadership to advance the strategic mission and goals of the College. Provides leadership to the division for the effective evaluation and assessment of all programmatic and administrative initiatives. Does related work as required.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate must possess a Master's Degree in educational administration, adult education, or a related field, and have eight years of senior management and leadership experience, three of which must be in higher education or administration. The successful candidate will have experience in leading teams and collaborating with external stakeholders in the delivery of training and education that leads to lifelong learning and economic mobility. Knowledge and commitment to the goals and mission of the community college and evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students required, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom. The demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse staff is also required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include an earned doctorate in a related field; successful experience in serving diverse constituencies through workforce training, lifelong learning and adult education; demonstrated success in public and private grant writing and the administration of grants; demonstrated understanding of labor market assessment, including emerging industry and regional needs and personal enrichment trends. Teaching and workforce development experience also preferred.

SALARY & BENEFITS
: The starting salary is $147,409. Additional compensation with seniority steps may be attained over time maximizing at a salary of $219,035. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, a choice of defined benefit or defined contribution pension plan, generous leave benefits, and access to tax shelter annuities and a deferred compensation plan.
