Occasional Position Overview The Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) is seeking a highly experienced and principled law enforcement professional to serve as the Basic Peace Officer Academy Coordinator. This leadership position is responsible for the operational command, instructional oversight, and professional standards management of Oklahoma's premier Basic Peace Officer Academy. The Coordinator ensures academy operations are conducted in full compliance with Oklahoma statutes, CLEET administrative rules, and agency policy, while upholding CLEET's core values of Integrity, Excellence, and Customer Service. The successful candidate will model professionalism, accountability, and leadership in developing the next generation of Oklahoma peace officers. Essential Functions
  • Direct and oversee all daily operations of the Basic Peace Officer Academy.
  • Supervise academy instructors, adjunct faculty, and support personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with Oklahoma Administrative Code (OAC 390) and applicable statutory requirements.
  • Maintain instructional quality control and curriculum integrity.
  • Monitor cadet performance, discipline, remediation, and graduation eligibility.
  • Coordinate academic instruction, skills training, physical training, and testing standards.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between CLEET leadership, sponsoring agencies, instructors, and academy staff.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and maintenance of academy records.
  • Evaluate instructor performance and ensure adherence to CLEET instructional standards.
  • Promote a culture of professionalism, respect, and accountability within the academy environment.
  • Support CLEET public engagement efforts, academy graduations, and official events. Minimum Qualifications (Required)
  • Oklahoma CLEET Peace Officer Certification in good standing. (Active or Retired)
  • Basic Instructor Development (BID) certification.
  • Documented experience as a CLEET-certified instructor.
  • Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation.
  • Live within 60 miles of the Ada campus; or willing to relocate. Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior academy coordination or academy supervisory experience.
  • Experience in curriculum development and instructional program management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Education, or related field.
  • Experience managing personnel in a structured training environment.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of law enforcement experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of Oklahoma Peace Officer Certification Standards and CLEET regulations.
  • Strong leadership and organizational management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high accountability standards.
  • Working knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional best practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex scheduling and operational logistics.

Work Environment This position operates primarily within a law enforcement academy environment and requires active engagement in both classroom and skills-based training settings. Occasional extended hours may be required during academy cycles. Compensation and Benefits Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience up to $75,000.00.       Annual Benefit Allowance:
      • The benefits allowance covers up to $20,538.

      Retirement Savings Plans:
        Pathfinder Defined Contribution Plan:

        • Employer matches 6% with an employee contribution of 4.5%.
        • Employer matches 7% with an employee contribution of 7% or above.
        OPERS Defined Benefit Plan:
        available to returning employees who were previously enrolled in OPERS. Annual & Sick Leave (PTO):
        • 15 days accrued annually during the first 1-5 years of service.
        • 18 days accrued annually for 5-10 years of service.
        • 20 days accrued annually for 10-20 years of service.
        • 25 days accrued annually for over 20 years of service.
        • Sick leave: Accrued at 15 days per year
        Paid Holidays:
        • 11 paid holidays per year
        Longevity Pay:
        • Longevity payments are paid annually to eligible State employees with a minimum of 2 years of State service. Employee Assistance Program (EAP):
