Oversees and monitors courses in new employee training curricula, Agency Orientation, Correctional Officer Basic Training, Annual Mandatory Training, Supervisory and Leadership Development, In-Service and Specialized Training. Ensures training is delivered consistently and in accordance with agency requirements, established curricula, and Applicable standards. Monitors compliance with agency requirements, ACA, CLEE, and applicable legal mandates or legal settlements. Serves as Chief of Security for the Staff Development and Training Center and oversees security operations, inmate supervision, inspections, searches, key/tool/equipment control, grounds, vehicles, and related operational requirements. Supervises assigned staff and monitors performance. Oversees agency firearms ranges, inspections, maintenance range agreements, firearms training requirements, and ammunition needs. Monitors compliance with agency requirements, ACA, CLEE, and knowledge of adult learning, curriculum development, instructional methods, training needs assessment, testing and evaluation. Knowledge of correctional operations, security practices, agency policies, training administration, records management, and applicable accreditation and compliance requirements. Knowledge of supervisory development principles. Ability to supervise and develop staff, analyze training data, exercise sound judgment, and communicate effectively orally and in writing. Must maintain required certifications. Limited supervision - employee is expected to follow established objectives with minimal direction from supervisor. Resume not required, but highly recommended. Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire. State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and relevant supervisory experience. A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required supervisory experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and eight (8) years experience in correctional, security, military, or police work to include four (4) years of supervisory experience. A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above = 2 years)(Bachelor's and above = 4 years). Must be certified by the SCDC Staff Development and Training Center and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.

Preferred Experience:

A bachelor's degree and four (4) years of experience in staff development and/or training, including two (2) years of supervisory experience. OR An associate degree and six (6) years of experience in staff development and/or training including two (2) years of supervisory experience. OR A high school diploma and eight (8) years of experience in staff development and/or training, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
