High Level Job Description:
This important position will work closely with our Corporate Trainer to develop their instructional techniques for maximum effectiveness while assisting in delivering a structured curriculum aimed at equipping students with the knowledge and technical skills needed to become Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). Additionally, this role involves aiding in the administration of our training and med cert programs, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and agency requirements. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of two years of experience as a DSP. This position is a growth position, allowing incumbents to advance their career by leveraging their expertise while developing/enhancing their training and instruction skills. In addition, our Assistant Trainer must be skilled at working with students from diverse socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.Job Responsibilities:
Assist withStudent Training and Instruction:
Conduct student training in a classroom setting, adhering to the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and Agency standards, guidelines, and regulations for DSP training programs, including CPR and PMT. Teach the program curriculum, ensuring students acquire the necessary skills to successfully meet all course requirements. Support students through computer-based models, offering technical assistance, additional exercises for better comprehension, and recap discussion sessions as needed. Evaluate and propose updates to the curriculum when necessary. Assess and document students' progress through testing, observation, and skill assessment. Communicate effectively with students, team members, and staff from all Agency departments. Create a stimulating environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skills development, and understanding of the qualities of a good DSP.Med Cert Liaison:
Coordinate and oversee the Med-Certification and Re-Certification process for all DDS licensed programs. Ensure compliance with program requirements always.Student Records:
Maintain accurate records for all students, including attendance, schedules, and course requirements regarding instructional hours and content. Fulfill additional student record responsibilities as needed.Other:
Promote the mission of the DSP Program in a positive manner with all staff, participants, and a consistent exchange of information in a transparent and collaborative environment. Participate in regular meetings and communications with program partners to collaborate, align instruction, monitor student progress and identify issues they may have while attending classes. Assist the Sales and Marketing team with recruiting students and by providing marketing content and ideas. Perform other special projects / assignments as needed.Competencies Required:
