Job Description

TITLE:
Youth Development Professional (YDP)
DEPARTMENT
Payette Clubhouse, Ontario Clubhouse, or Weiser Clubhouse
REPORTS TO
Clubhouse Director
COMPENSATION
$14.05 per hour/15 to 25 Hours /Week
JOB SUMMARY
Ensure the safety of members and serve as a positive role model. Plan and organize fun, daily activities and programs. that meet the 5
Key Elements:
1. Safe environment, both physically and emotionally 2. Fun 3. Supportive relationships with adults 4. Opportunities & expectations 5. Recognition. Programs will also help youth achieve success in our three priority outcomes: 1. Academic success 2. Healthy Lifestyles 3. Good character & leadership. Mentor and guide Club members to reach their full potential by providing them with a structured environment filled with opportunities for constructive fun and learning after school and during the summer months. In addition, keep equipment, facilities, and grounds clean and attractive.
KEY ROLES
(Essential Job Responsibilities): Member Safety and Supervision—30% Set expectations and enforce Club rules for all members in fairness and in alignment with Club policies and procedures Maintain a safe environment for all and ensure members are supervised at all times Hold members accountable for behavior choices while communicating the benefits of making positive choices Manage the safe and efficient transition of members between activities Identify and mediate conflicts between members Member Relationship Building—30% Build positive relationships with all members Communicate and model the Club values of Respect, Responsibility, and Integrity Provide ongoing guidance and mentoring to members as part of building supportive relationships Demonstrate a positive attitude that ensures member success while having fun Structured Youth Engagement—30% Plan and lead daily activities and weekly programs Develop strategies for providing youth with new skills in our three priority areas: Academic Success Good Character and Leadership Healthy Lifestyles Create impromptu / casual opportunities for fun and enjoyment that ensures a positive interpersonal setting Cleaning and Facility Maintenance—10% Accomplish assigned daily cleaning tasks Manage program areas in a manner that holds youth accountable for Club cleanliness Work with your team to ensure that all areas of the work setting are repaired and clean
RELATIONSHIPS
Internal:
Maintain close, daily contact with Club members, Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club member guardians, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions; instruct, and advise/counsel.
External:
Maintain contact with Clubhouse Director as needed to foster community relations.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED CPR and First Aid Certifications (provided) Valid driver's license (preferred)
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics. A positive attitude, integrity, and interest in helping youth become successful adults One year of work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization (preferred) Flexibility to meet the needs of the organization Bilingual Spanish (preferred)
QUALIFICATIONS

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
This is not an office position. During Club operation hours, this position requires high mental and physical energy. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: Stand, reach, stoop, kneel, sit; talk, walk frequently, climb stairs, and listen/hear Use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work Light to moderate lifting is required (lifting up to or over 50 lbs.) Regular, predictable attendance is required; Club functions and events may require extended daily hours be worked as such business demands dictate. Ability to handle noisy and high-energy situations while maintaining control Ability to work with diverse personalities in a busy, dynamic/stressful environment BGCWTV is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
