JOB SUMMARY
Dual Language Elementary Grade Level Leaders provide instructional leadership and professional development opportunities related to the curriculum, assessment, and instruction for district-wide grade level teams. They are responsible for collaborating with the Director of Curriculum and Student Learning and other Central Office staff members to coordinate grade level elementary professional development and curriculum initiatives. Elementary Grade Level Leaders should be prepared to provide support and lead reflection around district curricular initiatives such as Amplify CKLA/Caminos, Illustrative Math, the Eight Mathematical Practices and Mathematical Teaching Practices, Mystery Science, SEL, Social Studies units, Biliteracy Unit Framework, literacy initiatives, and NWEA MAP and Lectura assessments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum and Student Learning and others in the Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Department to prepare, implement, and evaluate district staff development on elementary in-service days Work as a liaison between buildings and the Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Department Communicate positively and clearly with a wide variety of administrators, teachers, and Central Office personnel, including preparing updates after elementary in-service days Plan and implement professional development for Opening Institute Day and quarterly Staff Development Days. Plan and implement one after-school professional development workshop or book discussion per year (can be done individually or with another Elementary Grade Level Leader) Communicate session topics, products, and session notes for each grade level meeting, and additional professional development opportunities via shared Google Doc Summary Collaborate with the building administration team and the School Improvement Team to provide professional development around the School Improvement Plan. Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Curriculum and Student Learning
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong working knowledge of curriculum design and development in the district Ability to form strong professional relationships with colleagues Proven commitment to professional growth Understanding of and ability to support the implementation of resources and programs at specific grade level Understanding of and ability to support the implementation of the appropriate teaching strategies for biliteracy and bilingual development. Ability to work with a grade-level partner(s) to plan, facilitate and coordinate professional development activities for district grade-level teams Ability to differentiate presentation materials to be inclusive of all special programs (i.e., special education, ESL, Dual Language) Current Urbana School District #116 Employee
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and Benefit information can be found on the Human Resources webpage. This is a position within the collective bargaining unit and is not an administrative position. This is an exempt position. This is a stipend position. A stipend in the maximum amount of $1,500 will be pro-rated quarterly upon the successful completion of all duties and responsibilities associated with this position. Requires at least a one-year commitment for the 2026-2027 school year. The stipend position does not interfere with other stipend responsibilities. Curriculum Implementation Teachers will not be eligible to apply for this position Consideration will be given to balancing background, experience, content knowledge, and teacher-leadership across K-5 grade levels. Two positions available for primary (k-2) and two positions for intermediate (3-5)
EVALUATION
The performance of this job will be evaluated by the Director of Curriculum & Instruction, in consultation with building principal(s), in accordance with provisions of the negotiated agreement using the district's evaluation instrument.
START DATE
SY 2026-2027
NOTES:
In order to more fully support the implementation and use of the above mentioned programs and materials, preference will be given to candidates who are able to commit to the four Professional Development Days, Quarterly Meetings with the Director of Curriculum and Student Learning, and Opening Day Professional Development. Stipends can be prorated based on work performance and attendance at meetings.
