Teaching Full Job Description Position Description:
Reporting to the Coordinator of Adapted Physical Education, Hospital/Homebound, Vocational Programs and Dyslexia in the Student Support Unit, the Job Training Specialist is responsible for developing personal, leadership, and employability skills in at-risk students participating in and trying to secure post-secondary employment/education.
Reports To:
Coordinator of Adapted Physical Education, Hospital/Homebound, Vocational Programs, and Dyslexia Scope of Responsibility:
Assesses individual academic and career plans. Teaches the skills necessary for decision making and career planning. Teaches for mastery of thirty-seven job related competencies developed by Jobs for America's Graduates in cooperation with the private sector (Jobs for America's Graduates curriculum). Teaches core basic skills. Accesses social/support services. Identifies jobs/careers for graduates by developing a job bank. Acts as advisor to career association activities. Performs other duties as assigned by Coordinator of Vocational Programs and the Executive Director of Special Programs. 1
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree Secondary certification Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience; three (3) at the high school level Proficient in Excel, Word, Power point Strong oratory skills Strong writing skills Strong communication skills
Desirable Qualifications:
Master's degree Certification/experience as a school based administrator Certification in
Special Education Physical Involvement:
Sitting is required part of each work day. Must be able to operate office equipment. Standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting up to 10 pounds is sometimes required. Ability to provide own transportation to schools, work locations and meeting sites. Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations.
