Job description: Job Opportunity in Peabody, MA area: Join Our Mission to Empower Individuals with disabilities! Are you passionate, motivated, and ready to make a difference in the lives of individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities? Bridging Independent Living Together, Inc. (BILT, Inc.) is looking for self-initiating team members who share our mission of providing quality, personalized services to individuals in their homes and communities.
Who We Are:
We are a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with varying disabilities. At BILT, Inc., we pride ourselves on taking the "impossible" and making it "possible." Our work is diverse-ranging from teaching individuals how to secure employment and enjoy community outings to offering vital respite care and mentorship. We serve individuals between the ages of 3 and 65, helping them achieve greater independence in all aspects of their lives. We are open Monday thru Sunday, with various shifts available between 9am-7pm.
Who We're Looking For:
We're searching for candidates who are experienced, passionate, and eager to contribute to our mission. As a Skills Trainer (mainly assigned to the Peabody, MA area), you will play a vital role in providing individuals with the guidance and tools they need to enhance their daily living skills and achieve greater independence.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as personal care, hygiene, household maintenance, food shopping, meal preparation, budgeting, and social skills development Providing ongoing support, role modeling, and guidance in improving personal responsibility, community living skills, and socialization Facilitating leisure activities and encouraging engagement in social and recreational activities. Transporting individuals to appointments, work, and recreational outings Documenting daily notes on program participants' progress and any changes Attending review meetings, trainings, and other related appointments as required Other duties as required.
Requirements:
Car and valid driver's license (you will be taking individuals into the community in personal vehicles; mileage reimbursement provided). Clean driving record. Ability to pass a CORI check. Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to helping others. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at a time. Must be able to be on feet and on-the-go for hours at a time, including accompanying clients for walks and other activities. Must be comfortable driving clients to and from places, as needed.
