Job Description
Alpha Omega Safety Solutions (AOSS), a member of SPE Group, strengthens the utility workforce through practical safety training, field coaching, and real-world crew development. We partner with municipalities, utilities, contractors, and educational institutions to build safer, stronger, more prepared utility teams. We are seeking an experienced utility professional for a field-based role coaching, training, and supporting crews in real-world working environments. This is not a classroom-only training role — you will be on job sites, in training yards, and around active crews across Michigan and surrounding areas. What You'll Do Conduct field observations during overhead, underground, substation, and excavation operations Coach crews on safety, job planning, communication, situational awareness, and decision-making Strengthen job briefings, hazard recognition, and crew communication Deliver hands-on training: pole top rescue, bucket rescue, protective grounding, switching and clearance, excavation safety, confined space, traffic control, chainsaw and chipper safety Support apprentices, journeymen, crew leaders, and supervisors with guidance rooted in real utility experience Build relationships with customer contacts and help coordinate training programs Support development of field guides, toolbox talks, checklists, and training materials Required Qualifications Department of Labor-certified Journeyman Lineworker Minimum 3 years of post-journey lineworker experience CDL Class A license Valid Michigan driver's license Current DOT Medical Certification Strong understanding of utility operations, safety standards, and energized work practices Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and active jobsite environments Ability to travel regionally; willingness to work non-traditional hours Preferred Qualifications Previous safety, training, or instructional experience Experience leading crews or mentoring apprentices CPR and First Aid Certification Experience with municipal utilities or public power systems Strong writing skills for field notes and training summaries Physical Expectations Must be capable of climbing utility poles, lifting and moving training equipment, and working outdoors for extended periods in changing weather.
