Come be a part of our team! We are currently looking for a Full-Time Ophthalmic Technical Staff Trainer. The Tech Staff Trainer is responsible for developing and implementing EANM's in-house ophthalmic technician training program. Works closely with all Regional Leads, Group Leads, and Clinic Directors to work on specific training issues, and provide feedback accordingly. Works with the Clinics on educating established technicians and conducting skill gaps. Will guide and support all Technical Preceptors. Provides NextGen Electronic Health Record training and re-training for all technical staff and physicians. Works closely with members of the Information Services department and development team to assume oversight and responsibility for training. Assumes the oversight and responsibility for communication and implementation of the numerous template and process changes that are a part of Electronic Medical Records. May be asked to participate on core teams and process teams as necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

Functions and supports as needed as an active technician/writer in the technician pool to maintain personal technical skills. Refer to Technician III(COT) or Technician V(COMT) job functions as designated by current level of certification. Develops a curriculum for new technician trainees that will prepare them to meet EANM's stated technician trainee competency expectations. Ensures that all appropriate training materials are purchased and made available to each trainee. Spends time in each physician's clinic learning that physician's needs and practice preferences and incorporates this understanding into the technician training program. Personally conducts theoretical and hands-on practical training of all new technician trainees throughout the organization in a consistent, measurable manner. Evaluates trainees' progress against curriculum expectations, solicits feedback from technical staff group leader(s), physicians and clinic directors, provides trainee with written and verbal feedback and additional training, and continues to monitor performance until trainee has satisfactorily met expectations. Works with Clinic Management to develop hiring criteria for technician trainees. Develops appropriate and legally defensible pre-employment testing for potential trainees, with final approval from Human Resources. Evaluates new and established technicians for technical skill gaps and on a 30-60-90 timeframe for critical feedback to the Clinic leads and Management. Identifies potential sources of future technician trainee candidates and takes steps to develop these sources. Stays current with the changes to the Electronic Health Record workflow and updates to the system. Seeks and acts on clinical direction from the assigned physician advisor. Actively works with Clinic Management to define and develop the most appropriate handoff criteria from Training to the Preceptor Program. Stays current on ophthalmic technician knowledge/trends and incorporates changes into the curriculum, Monitors and maintains technician certification information and follows up with technicians whose certification has lapsed or is about to lapse. Plan and schedule CEC Lectures for all clinics. The annual completion of assigned Learning Management System (LMS) courses is mandatory. Any individual who has not completed their assigned training prior to November 30th of each year may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

Requires a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification with the expectation of obtaining a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification at the next earliest testing date. Must possess strong skills in the areas of written and verbal communication, organization and time management, and training/development. Typing skills of at least 35 words per minute are desirable.
