Job Description
Technology Trainer The Geauga County Public Library is seeking a dynamic and service‑oriented Technology Trainer to help advance technology learning and innovation across our library system. This position plays a key role in empowering staff and patrons by providing hands‑on training, instructional resources, and creative programming for both established and emerging technologies.

The Technology Trainer assists the IT Manager with the research, implementation, troubleshooting and training for current and emerging technologies and software system-wide. This position serves as the primary trainer of existing and emerging technologies for staff and patrons system-wide. Responsible for creating written and or video instructions along with developing and providing hands-on training for library staff and patrons. Maintains a high level of knowledge along with the ability to maintain, troubleshoot, train, and develop programing for the Maker Space equipment, Digital Legacy Lab equipment and other new technologies/technology initiatives. Works closely with staff to ensure consistent technology programing is available system-wide. Shares the responsibility to establish vendor accounts, request quotes and order equipment and supplies. Occasionally assist IT department staff with projects as needed. Adapts to evolving technologies and new software. Occasional travel/work at any GCPL library location as required.Essential Job Functions :
This list is illustrative, but not exhaustive for this position. Maintains a high level of knowledge and able to perform hands-on in-person training for staff and patrons along with developing programs for the maker space equipment and software, working with the Digitization Specialist to develop training and instructions for the Digital Legacy Lab equipment and other new technologies/technology initiatives. Works collaboratively with the IT Manager, Digitization Specialist, and the Heads of Adult Services to plan and implement technology-related programs for patrons and staff. Ability to configure, maintain, troubleshoot and update software and hardware associated with GCPL Maker Space(s) and other technology as needed including the Digital Legacy Lab equipment. Assists the IT Manager with the research and implementation of new hardware and software for library staff and patrons. Develops and creates materials for GCPL staff and patrons to train them on new software, apps, hardware and feature enhancements. Maintains good communication with staff and patrons about the status of issues by phone and/or using Help Desk tickets and email. Continues to develop and share knowledge and skills through appropriate meetings, conferences and workshops for cross training, and professional and technical development. Shares the responsibility to obtain quotes and place orders for equipment and supplies. Other duties as assigned.Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:
Strong instructional design for and delivery to adult learners including the ability to translate technical concepts into accessible training materials. General knowledge of the library and literature. Ability to work with people of all ages including staff, volunteers, and patrons. Ability to teach adult learners in the classroom setting, virtually or one-on-one Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent customer service skills. Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with staff and patrons regarding technology issues through Help Desk Tickets, email, phone, and in person. Ability to work accurately and independently with minimum supervision and have dependable work habits. Work schedule flexibility to meet library needs. Willingness and adaptability to work in a changing work environment. Safely observes all PERRP procedures.Minimum Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree required, MLIS preferred. Substantial knowledge of and experience with PCs, software, printers, scanners, integrated library systems, and makerspace equipment, including, but not limited to, 3D printers, laser engravers, sublimation printers, and vinyl cutter printers. One year of related experience preferred. Has reliable transportation in order to meet work obligations. Successful completion of a background check.Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally and move equipment in and out of buildings and vehicles. Ability to perform equipment wiring and installation tasks that may require accessing floor level, elevated, or confined areas. Ability to operate objects, tools or controls-including computers, phones and office equipment. Competence in completing tasks that involve reading or visual inspection, with or without visual aids.Similar remote jobs
